Just in case some do not know, many Starbucks give away free bags of used coffee grounds to gardeners. Once used, coffee grounds have a Ph that is near neutral and can provide nutrient rich organic matter to your soil. Coffee grounds are also great if you want to compost. You just have to call and see if your local stores participate.

It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I'm sure they just get thrown out anyway.

Great idea, thx for posting!  I too would think they would give them away if one asks, etc.  Afterall, they go into their trash cans anyway.  Maybe if you take them a big garbage bag w/your name on it & tell them you'll pick it up when it's convenient for them etc.  It's worth a try to ask.
