The CafeMom Newcomers Club
I have a questions. I am wondering how you like your coffee. What brand do you buy, I by Folgers, and how do you prepare it? I want to start drinking coffee as it would be a good alterative to drinking Diet Dew to get caffine to keep me awake, not to mention keep me warm. I have a hard time with coffee as I do not like it's bitter taste. So, I am wondering how you all perpare it and maybe I will get some ideas on how to try my coffee, also I am trying to lose weight, and so right now I am using a creamer that is 45 calories per tablespoon and after getting my coffee to taste the way that I want to, I swear there is 200 calories or so in it, and that is not going to help me lose or keep the weight off. :(

by ricjil94 on Oct. 11, 2008 at 1:22 AMYou could try buying some flavored coffee. That way you can put either skim or 1% milk in it. Then you can always use the artificial sweeter to cut calories. I always buy flavored coffee & am trying a new brand all the time. The good thing about coffee is that there are so many flavors to choose from. But if I need a really big pick-me-up I will go to Dunkin Donuts & get a Turbo Iced. It's iced coffee with a shot of espresso. That's what I'm drinking right now to get me thru my 3rd shift part time job. |

I don't have a specific coffee brand that I like. I just don't like things that are too strong. I drink whatever they have at work. And I use french vanilla creamer. I don't measure it. I just put enough in it so that the color is just a bit lighter than my skin tone. That's how I know its perfect. LoL

by jennifer16 on Oct. 11, 2008 at 1:28 AMI think that Folgers is bitter. I prefer darker blends. I usally by Costco's brand coffee in a can. It is cheap, a dark blend and already ground so I like it. Then I love the Coffemate flavored creamers in it. I also love lattes or mochas but those get really fattening. |

by MrsGuerrero92 on Oct. 11, 2008 at 1:31 AMI drink instant coffee. I'm the only one who drinks coffee. My hubby "HAS" to have Starbucks. Anyway, I will only drink my coffee with flavored creamer. Right now my favorite is Coconut Creme. I just had 2 cups! So I'm gonna be on here all night!! lol! |

by mom23luvs on Oct. 11, 2008 at 1:32 AMHave you thought about hot tea instead of coffee? I am not a hot coffee drinker (although I love iced coffee) so at home I drink hot tea with a little sugar and some milk. It's really good and not bitter like coffee. I drink it alot during the winter and it has the caffeine I nee to keep moving, lol. Anyway, just a suggestion. Oh, and they have so many different kinds of tea that you could switch every month and not get tired of it :-) |

by kathyshelton on Oct. 11, 2008 at 2:37 AMMaxwell house all the time, and i drink it alot of it. i put creamer in mine, you said you didn't like the bitter taste, this sounds crazy but it works, add just a dash of salt on the coffee grounds before you make it in the coffee pot. it takes bitterness out. you learn all kinds of crazy things in AL. (where i live). it does work though. |
