Ok, I may be backwards, but I don't understand how a TREE and SANTA CLAUSE has ANYTHING to do with Christ. Also, from research, it has been PROVEN that it was impossible fore Jesus to have been born in the WINTER because the Shepherds would not have been in the field. Also, WHAT SCRIPTURES are you basing this holiday on? I know the story of Jesus' birth I read several different Bibles trying to fine religion myself. And the BIBLE and CHRISTIANS don't mix at least I don't see how they do. But from the research I have done, x-mass seems to have steamed from a pagan holiday and the CHRISTIANS just wanted these people's money (conversion) so they thought if they put a CHRISTIAN name on the holiday then it will be ok. Also, will someone explain the EASTER BUNNY giving out EGGS has anything to do with Jesus' resurrection, and didn't he say to COMMENMORATE his death?
I don't understand how you can believe these things. If you could please give me BIBILICAL evdience to support these claims I would appricate it. This really isn't to start an agurment I am truely intersted, I love learning about all religions, but it bugs me when things don't seem to follow a line of logic.
My son doesn't have x-mass, because I can't WAIT to give him presents I am impaicent, and he knows it, what would have been his x-mass gifts if I chose to celebrate it have already been open, I am going to teach him about all religions and let him decide for himself, but with christianty I get stuck with the holidays not making sense.
I personally accpet the BIBLE but not religion. I get the JEWISH Holidays as being BIBLICLY based but not any of the CHRISTIAN ONES which I find funny. It even shows that Jesus celebrated the festival of lights aka channaka.

by SerenaRose3 on Nov. 22, 2008 at 3:39 AMChristmas, Easter and Halloween are pagan, Christmas and Easter are partly christian. Nobody knows when Jesus was born so they just picked a day to my understanding. |

There could be NO more specific description of a present-day Christmas, than this. God says, "DON'T do it. This is Paganism!" |

by mcmgirl88 on Nov. 22, 2008 at 3:49 AMI think pretty much all of the Christian holidays have pagan origins. I believe in God, and that if we do bad things it will bite us in the ass, but I place very little stock in the bible. I guess it's because the bible was written by men, and not god himself, and there was actually a lot that the Council left out of the bible. I'm a gun-toting, breastfeeding, child-spanking, pro-life, anti-gay marriage, conservative, meat-eating, non-smoking, West Texan, MCM college student, teenage mother and wife, military-supporting, country woman! |

by snowpeasmom on Nov. 22, 2008 at 3:49 AMThanks for finding that you are right I remember reading that. SO my next question is if anyone is willing to answer it....If GOD said DON"T DO THIS, and no one knows exactly when christ was born...don't you think that GOD would be anger that you chose a holiday he specificaly said NOT to do and made it his son's birthday?!?! ie why I don't understand christianity...so again could someone explain it? Quoting SerenaRose3: ps again thanks for the bible quote. |

by SerenaRose3 on Nov. 22, 2008 at 3:50 AMI guess if you wanted to celebrate the birth of Jesus it wouldn't matter when you were to honorthe day. the tree and presents are not about his birth. A good way to keep it religious would be to go to a Christmas mass, or other Church service to honor the the birth of Jesus |

by SerenaRose3 on Nov. 22, 2008 at 3:54 AMthe only answer i have for you is in your heart. if you really want to know something go to the source. pray . God can give you the answers you seek, . i believe in him because i feel in m heart that is true, i have a hard time believing what a pastor says and the bible, not sure but thats all we got. so you can pray about it and if god wants you to read it he will let you know. by equinox on Nov. 22, 2008 at 4:05 AMhttp://www.thercg.org/books/ttooc.html backs you up. Funny, I had never thought about it either. I am not sure now if we will put up a tree; I don't usually decorate very much anyway. I am still going to give my kiddos presents, and get together with family because we see them so rarely, but I may have to rethink this.... Thanks for bringing it to my attention. |
