The CafeMom Newcomers Club
The rule of my house is you get what I make period. I have my niece and nephew over for the night and my niece is already complaining about dinner. She doesn't want it, won't eat it.... yadda yadda. Ya'll know the drill. It's not like I'm making liver and onions either. I'm making mac & Cheese pizza, salad, and applesauce................ i think that's a kid friendly meal. Well, friendly to my kids. And it's not like she's never been here before, she was just here last weekend so she knows the rules.
I will however bend the rules for my kids' friends. Obviously b/c they don't know the rules and are rarely here (my oldest just started k, and is just now inviting friends over.).
Do any of you change the rules when a niece or nephew is over?

by ms_mommy_sue on Nov. 22, 2008 at 4:53 PMIf they are not used to the way we eat, I will. As I will for any special needs child that comes over, and has eating difficulties. My family has a rules if you don't eat what we eat, you get PB&j sandwich and fruit and veggie. For my son it is different, he has sensroy issues and will only eat a limited diet, so I end up making him a very different meal then what the rest is eating. I guess I do run a short order kitchen for the most part, but at least everyone eats something and for the most part it is nutritious! |

by momcat437 on Nov. 22, 2008 at 4:53 PMNope--they eat what we eat, or they can wait till they get home to eat! I have a sign in my kitchen, which I've had for years, which says, "You have two choices for dinner--take it or leave it!" and that's that! |
