Can you allow your children to believe in Santa and still call yourself a Christian?
Can you encourage your children to believe in Santa and also teaching them the story of Jesus's birth and the real meaning of Christmas?
It just seems like a lot of people chose not to tell their children about Santa because Christmas is really about Jesus...which I agree with for the most part. But, we love doing Santa at our house...its fun for us and its fun for our DD. I dont understand what is so bad about teaching them about Santa but also making sure they know about the REAL meaning of CHRISTmas which is Christ.

by willandbrismom on Dec. 2, 2008 at 3:50 PMWell the the story of santa is actually based on a true story. I believe the original santa was german or something like that. He was so generous to the people of his village and gave all that he had to help others that to me that is as christian in spirit as you can get. So I allow my children to believe in santa as well as teach them about Jesus. When they are old enough to know that santa isnt an elf or whatever I show them the real story of St. Nicholas and how we should use his generosity as an example. by ohmsgrace05 on Dec. 2, 2008 at 3:55 PMI dont think its a bad example. I grew up doing both at my house and I intend on doing both with my DD but I cant help but notice so many mommas only teaching their children the story of Jesus and not allowing them to believe in Santa. Some say that lying to your children about this is sinful and wrong...IDK, just wanted to get everyone elses opinions of it. Quoting Bugabug: |
