I have made a gingerbread house but I am trying to think of something me and my girls could do this weekend. Any ideas?

by cjsmom0206 on Dec. 3, 2008 at 3:37 PMThe craft store has clear "craft" Christmas ornaments. Have them drizzle a little paint inside them and swirl them around. Homeade ornaments!! Last year I took pinecones I gathered up and I tied a string to the so the could hang. I had the kids smear peanut butter on them and roll them around in bird seed, for homeade bird feeders. |

by emilieandmommy on Dec. 3, 2008 at 3:39 PMme and my daughter (3) just made scented ornaments for her to give out as gifts. its just lots of cinamon and some applesauce mixed together then you flatten it out and use a cookie cutter and I used a little screwdriver to make a hole for a ribbon. They take about a week to dry, and once they are dry I bought her some paint and glitter and some little decorations to glue on (we made christmas tree shapes.) |

by macysmama1206 on Dec. 3, 2008 at 3:43 PMWe make candy and cookies. We are going to make a gingerbread house this year. And this weekend we are taking the glass ball ornaments swirling glue around them and putting glitter on them. They are pretty and the kids think they have accomplished something great. Michael's has little foam kits to make all kinds of Christmas ornaments gingerbread men and houses, snowflakes, snowmen, etc. for like $4 a kit. Good luck and have fun! |

by hmjones2005 on Dec. 3, 2008 at 3:48 PMMichael's and other craft stores have those cute foam sets that you can get. There are photo ornaments, houses, all kinds of stuff. I think they are actually on sale at Michael's right now. I remember when I was little we always made the ring garland with construction paper. Take different colors and cut them into strips. Start with making one ring by either gluing or stapling the ends. Put another strip through and connect those ends. Then just continue. You can make it as long as you want. Another idea is to make popcorn and cranberry garland. That's always fun as well. Just have to be careful since you have to use a needle to poke through the popcorn and cranberries. Have fun.

by Kilya on Dec. 3, 2008 at 4:57 PMWhen I was younger we used to make "SALT CERAMICS". I know you can find the recipe online. They were really fun to do. "May the most you wish for be the least you get; may the best times you've ever had be the worst you will see."

by mooremom on Dec. 3, 2008 at 6:26 PMRead The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett.... very cute story. She has free printable bookmarks, file folder game, recipes, etc. You could read the book, bake and decorate gingerbread cookies using her recipe, etc. http://www.janbrett.com/secret_santa_selections.htm She also has some online things the kiddos can do to go along with the theme. You can also make gingerbread smelling play doh and let them use a gingerbread shape and rolling pin to make them. Recipe for "Gingerbread" Play-doh |
