I'm pregnant and have 3 kids. My cat (who we've had for awhile) has in the last few months started peeing and pooping all over the house. On my kids beds, toys, everywhere. I'm thinking of taking him to the humane society tomorrow. I'm always one for animal rights and not taking them to a shelter but this is gross and I don't think it's healthy for me or my kids. Am I doing the right thing?
UGH I just found cat pee all over my dogs bed. I know it was the cat cause I know the different smell and my cat and dog don't like each other. I'm giving him ONE more chance!

by Sweetpeasx3 on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:11 PMFirst of all with you being pregnant you are not to be changing the kitty litter or even messing with the poop. So I would take it to the humane society unless you know of someone that would take it for you. |

by metalmomma25 on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:12 PMI hope you don't get a bunch of mean responces. I think with you being pregnant it might be best. Does he have a medical problem that could be taken care of though?

by bookwriter4kids on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:12 PMWhat about the vet?? IMO you are giving up before you try by taking him to the humane society. If nothing else can't you find a no-kill shelter?? I mean...by sending an older cat to a shelter is deciding it's fate. Just doesn't saound fair. |

by teri4lance on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:14 PMQuoting shannona9706: I was going to say this. However, bottom line is that you and your family are more important than any animal. I know that may be an unpopular view to some in here, but I really don't care lol. If you do what you are willing and capable of doing health wise and you can't reach a resolution that is agreeable to your family, then the kitty has to go. That's all there is to it. |

by tynkz on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:16 PMnot to be mean but you should try the vet first. my sis cat went out yesterday and he got hit by a car. she found him today and he was really beat up. other animal hospitals wanted to put him down but she found one that took him in. he just had surgery and should be getting better. i know it's a pet but really they become family. good luck with your cat. |

by dolphinhj on Dec. 3, 2008 at 5:19 PMYou could try the vet, sometime they know someone looking for an animal and maybe the cat just needs a home where its just him...no kids:) Good luck I know thats a super hard decision but you have to put the kiddos first:)
