I was given a car seat from my neighbors that is in awesome condition, only 2 years old, and perfect fo rour baby thats coming. The only problem is they said it smells like cat. They have tried to wash it normally and it smells fine but when it gets warm out they said the baby smelled like cat after being in the seat. They never said cat URINE just CAT. So I wondered if anyone has any good ideas about how to clean the fabric to get the smell out.

Thanks for any help!

Try washing it in vinegar. Vodka also works.

Can I do this in the washer? And do I just substitute vinegar or vodka for the soap? Then wash normal after wards?

Step by step would be awesome!!! :)

Add vinegar to the water and still add soap.

If you want to try vodka, just put some in a spray bottle and spray the fabric with it. Not all odors are water-soluble.

Try a cup of vinegar when the wash first starts and a downy ball filled with vinegar for the rinse cycle. You can also try baking soda, look on the box for what amount you should use. Vinegar stinks but it won't make the carseat cover smell like that. Good luck!
