i used to smoke 10-15 cigs a day, and i quit once it was final that i was pregnant and didnt have any for about 1 1/2 months... but i caved the past two nights... and had one each night...

how much can one cig a day really hurt? because im really stressed out with my home life, and problms with issues im having, and having, just one at the end of the day really seems to mellow me out enought o really help..

and i really want one right now... i know i can control it, because i always feel guilty when i smoke, but just the one at the end of the night helps me with the stress from the day before...

please dont bash, i feel bad for smoking at all, but im going crazy.

Each cig takes eight minutes from your life. Just think that the two you've had since pregnant have robbed your kid of sixteen minutes of life before s/he is even born. Not to mention the higher risk of asthma and low birth weight.

I am a liberal, non-CIO, formula feeding because it was necessary, pro-choice, pro-gay and straight unions, socialist, unitarian universalist, theosophist, free range, educated single mother of one beautiful girl who is my entire life.

IDK but in my opinion you need to just quit.

I honestly don't think there is any real way of knowing how much one could hurt. Talk to your doctor about some other ways you can manage your stress. Good Luck.

Obviously, it's best not to smoke at all when you're pregnant. But, I know that some doctors will tell women that smoke to at the very least cut way back on their smoking. The fact that you've gone from 10-15 down to 1 is amazing.

I know how hard it is to quit. Your mind is telling you that you need to quit--it's best for the baby, and of course you want to give your baby the best. But, your body is telling you that you need to smoke. When I first found out I was pregnant, I tried so hard to quit smoking. It wasn't working. The more I wanted to quit, the more I seemed to smoke. Finally, when I was about 2 months pregnant, my body made me quit. I couldn't even think about smoking without throwing up! Of course, a year later, I started again....but, that's a different story!

Anyway, I don't know how exactly one cigarette a day will affect your baby. I'm not sure anyone really knows that. But, like I said, I think you're already on the right path by cutting down so much. Keep trying for zero! Best of luck...

I hope you can just quit and find another way to reduce stress. Look into other stress-management skills. Then you won't feel guilty for smoking. :)

If your child is born with any issues, or developes issues with their lungs or whatever later in life, you will blame yourself.  1 cigarette is 1 too many.  Seriously, i was a full time smoker for many years, and quit for my entire pregnancy.  it isn't that hard, just be strong.

my mom smoked one a day with me her entire pregnancy and I am fine. But I would try to quit if I were you. I didn't smoke before I got pregnant but once I got pregnant I craved a cigarette for like the first 4 months I finally broke down and took a hit, then immedately threw up lol..solved the craving though..

Hey! I just wanted to say that I think it's good you know it's wrong and bad for your baby, otherwise you would have never posted this. So tonight when you are craving a cig, just think of that little life inside of you and the explaining you will have to do to him/her if your smoking causes any type of delays...

There are better ways to relieve stress... go for a walk. Chew a piece of gum. For heaven sake, have 1/2 glass of red wine (actually recomended by some doctors... in moderation of course). But don't smoke.
