I've paid $10.51/month since December 2007 for ELECTRICITY...the company just caught onto my 1 killowatt usage per month....*NEW 11-27 UPDATE!!!*

I knew the day was coming. And it has finally arrived.

I've been receiving $10 monthly bills since December 2007.

A billing lady finally cued into why the bill was so low...I've been "using 1 kilowatt a month"...

A reading tech is coming out in the next 7-10 days.

I will receive the bill 1-2 weeks later.

A payment plan will be arranged...

But I'm thinking of switching.

10/22/09 1:15PM Small update.

I've spoken to several attorneys and they all have given the same story and proper legal resolution. In order for the electric company to come up with a proper estimate in which to bill me for 24 months worth...they are going to have to fix my meter and bill and monitor my usage for several months...not to just one. They've all said this is actually proper protocol for most situations like this.

I am happy with hearing this information.

I was rather concerned on how they could just estimate without even knowing ANYTHING about my real usage habits...

For instance, how would they know to take into consideration when I left on vacation two summers in a row and turned off the water heater and a/c?

Things like that...

Anyway, thanks for following my post. I will update more.

I can finally do "the dance"...I've officially made a drama-bash post! LOL

11/27 Update!

Well ladies, I promised an update and here she is:

Payment Due Date: Dec.08.09 $1,087.23.

My meter was swapped out last month and from @17 cents a KWh:

9/25-10/27 $161.35

8/26-9/25 $254.10

7/28-8/26 $285.60

6/24-7/28 $353.68

I'm honestly NOT expecting these amounts come next year because I think they exagerated but I can't complain because it could be a lot worse LOL.

I'd tell them because sooner or later they would catch it and then I would end up having to scrape up money to pay it back.  Might as well pay it now while I'm expecting it.

Yes I would call them because WHEN they realize they messed up (and they will) your next bill will be twice as much.

I would just keep paying what they send.  But, WARNING, one day it may come back and bite you in the butt.

They have messed up with me before.  One month was $30 but they were a pain so I just made sure I kept some extra money around for the next month's bill.  Sure enough it was $170 instead of the normal $100.  When they read the meter that month they made up for what they missed!

I agree with everyone else.  I would call them.

When we first moved into our house we were unaware that they were estimating our readings.  % months later we received a bill fo $750. When i called them they let us know that this was the first time they were able to get in the backyard to take a reading.  We never received a note telling us they were unable to get back into the yard.  I was sooo mad.

I wouldn't say anything you know why? Because when it's their fault and they bill you 600 for a month and it's incorrect and you're telling them to help you they don't do anything about it! It's happened to me so I wouldn't say a damn thing. =)
