Fever for no reason?

DD has a 103 fever for no apparent reason.  No sniffly nose, no change in eating habits, no nothing.  Just a fever.  She's 21 months.

She can't be in daycare because of it, but I just don't see how she would be sick if she has no other symptoms.  I mean, I agree with the daycare policy, and DH is taking her to the Dr, but I'm just wondering...do ya'll think it could actually be anything?

Does she have all of her teeth?  DS would get fevers when he was cutting teeth.

My son was like that Monday & Tuesday of last week. He had a 101-102 fever. No other symptoms & also could not go to daycare because of it. He was acting normal. It only lasted 2 days, so hopefully her temp. will go down soon!

There is always a reason for a fever...even if its not apparent.

I wouldn't take her to the dr. He will just tell you to give her motrin and tylanol and let her rest. Unless there are other symptons worth treating...they won't.

My DS used to get a fever every time he cut a tooth.

There's also been a weird virus going around here (I'm in NC) and the only symptom is a temperature. My son had it a while back, his fever would go up and he'd get really sleepy, I'd give him tylenol and it would go down and he'd feel better - until the tylenol wore off! It lasted for 3 days. My friend's 2 kids had the exact same thing.

Fever is sometimes the only symptom for the first 24 hours. My son is 15 months and woke up with a fever of 10r, the next day he started coughing. If she has a fever tomorrow w/no other symptoms then I'd make an appointment

She has actually been a little more willing to go to sleep when it's bedtime.  I thought it was because she's finally giving in to the routine but maybe she's dealing with this.

My DD had that about a month ago when she was 9 months old. Just a random fever for no reason. I took her to the doctor and they did blood work and took urine...so sad. Anyway, everything came up normal. The doctor told met hat it was Roseola and that the fever would last 3 days and then a rash would occur all over her body but it wouldn't bother her and it would go away within about a week. DD never developed the rash, however, and she was fever-free within 2-3 days so I don't think that it was Roseola. When I was talking to my mom about it when it happened she said that my brother used to do that. There was never any other symptoms or anything but he would run high fevers and then it would break and he would be fine. He still does that to this day. They don't know why but he'll get random fevers and then it'll break and he is all better. Oh, he is 21 years old now.

Maybe, I'm not sure.  She's slow on the teeth thing...she's only got about 8 or 9 so far.

I just spoke to my DH, evidently she's having the time of her life singing away and playing in the waiting area.

I'm really just thinking she's fine.

There is always a reason for a fever. Some reasons are obvious and some are subtle. Its the subtle ones that worry me.

When my oldest was 4 years old she started off with 102 temp that went up to 106 by the end of the day. She didnt have any symptoms others then sleeping constantly.

She had a kidney reflux that ended up damaging her kidney. She is 13 years old and still sees specialists for it.
