I would like to know of any educational videos that teach alphabet and counting. my ds is 19months and he LOVES cartoons, but the cartoons on TV don't really teach anything.

NO I do not depend on TV to teach my son, but he does watch tv during the day when I am doing laundry or in the kitchen etc. I would like to get a cartoon that could be educational.

I know about the Your Baby Can Read videos but those are kinda expensive. A set is $200 and that will have to wait till christmas. (plus they dont teach counting)

PBS has lots of shows on during the morning...sid the science kid teaches science like things such as simple machines, germs, and the weather.
Superwhy teaches alphebet skills and reading.
Um dora and Diego not only teach spanish but they also do counting
There is Barney that teachers manners and friendship
Wordworld teaches spelling skills
Dinosaur train teaches a lot of good things
there is playhouse disney they teach a lot of good things on there.

I odn't really know of one good one that will help your 'teach' your child. According to my son's physical and speech therapists TV isn't a good tool to use to help teach a child because the stuff doesnt' go slow enough for them and isn't clear as far as teaching goes...

Thanks, mostly I just want a video that will introduce the letters and numbers to him. I try to do flash cards with him but he doesn't pay attention long enough to get past C. I was hoping if I could find a video that just played the letters and numbers in order he would hear it as background noise and maybe notice the shapes of the letters and become a little familiar with them. That might set the groundwork for what I am trying to accomplish with him.

Um, Sesame Street....  The classic that has been helping kids learn letters and counting for 40 years!  And its actually kind of fun to watch as a parent, because they have great guest stars!  You can buy DVDs, watch episodes on demand, watch videos and play games on sesamestreet.org.  I love it.

I think I am going to make my own videos. LOL. I know that sounds silly but I have been thinking about it for a few weeks now, and I think since I can't find exactly what I'm looking for this will be my only option! LOL!

Be just my luck he wouldn't be interested! hahaha.

He doesn't like sesame street, (dont know why cause I loved it when I was a kid)

Plus I am looking for something that is more direct. propably kinda boring but pretty much just going over the alphabet and numbers in order (possibly w/ music) but not a lot of other dialogue

Baby Einstiein DVDS.

a set of them cost 50.00, i believe and a single DVD is 15.00

they're VERY educational, and they go depending on age, so however your child is developing at the time; it focuses on that.
