I do believe a man needs to support his kid if he gets a woman prenant

However I do believe this

If  a man could take a pill or get a shot or use a patch to avoid a pregnancy .

He would  religiously and  without fail.

even if he  felt a lil icky , even if he  got a bit of a belly ,  even if it cost some money  he would take it without fail .

If it were availible even to minors the  rate of  teen and other  unwanted pregnancy would drop like a brick.

I do believe women fail in the area of birthcontrol   much more than a man would .

I do believe  that when the  pack says 99.9 percent then it was not used   ,  I do not believe all of the birth control is faulty and  produces all these (  opps  ...but i was on bc ) pregnancies.

But dudes know this so it is still  his  call to risk it

so no he  is not  a victim

  • I agree if there were more forms of birth control available to men unwanted pregnancy would drop drastically.  Condoms and a Vasectomy just aren't cutting it.  I remember hearing about a bc pill for males a year or so ago though. I wonder what the outcome of that was?

  • They have almost got the "man" pill out there.  The University of Washington is starting clinical trials right now.

The way I see it, if you don't want kids and don't want to pay for them, it is your responsibility.  If I were not in a committed relationship and worried about getting pregnant, even if my boyfriend or whatever was taking a bc pill, I would still take one myself.  If a man doesn't want to have kids or pay for them, he will now have more options.  Men won't be able to sit around and whine anymore about how they were "trapped" because a woman lied and said she was on bc.  They will have more options regarding their own fertility.

I think the bc pill will be a learning curve for men.  There were still be men out there that are totally oblivious to the fact that certain medications and illnesses can affect the efficacy of bc and have an "oops".

  • Hey. I like your tortillera as an avatar. I have one just like it and use it alot.

Anyway, I agree, but there should be more "man" birth control options, though.

Maybe The man pill. Or a patch for his keister. lol

okay but men CAN use condoms -- alone only are 80% effective BUt if you use spermicide,  they are almost 99% effective... i do know for a fact men dont use them religiously...  i know you said you dont think men are victims,  but they can prevent pregnancy in that way and chose not to... so i have to disagree on your point... men and women are equally bad about it... people need to grow up

Oh I so agree and yes they would need to be educated  but I don't think a man seriously  would  take a chance and miss a pill  KWIM
I agree too  I  am responsible for my reproduction   and so is any parner I am with

I  would for sure not trust a man telling me he was on  Protection  I would  take  my own

  • Honestly if so many guys won't wear condoms because its "inconvenient" and "doesn't feel as good" what makes you think they would take the pill like that? Not saying all guys are like that, but so many are I don't know that a male BC pill will make as big a difference as you say.

  • Yeah and there about 20 differant forms of birth control for women, but only one (condoms) for men!....They only have one option. We have tons in all shapes and sizes...lol. somehow we have so many options and yet, some dont chose to use those either. so I agree w/ OP....If there were differant options I compleatly agreee that men would be more "protected"

  • I honestly don't see it becoming popular very quickly.  They have been taking call ins on the local radio stations about it.  Some men were okay with it, but a lot were worried about side effects.  The were worried that lowering the sperm count may cause issues with libido, impotency, and things like that.  It will eventually become the norm, but it will take a long time for men to be comfortable with it.  But, when men start thinking about a pill making something not work, they tend to shy away from it...lol.
