breastfeeding question (not a debate)

Is breastfeeding ability genetic?  Meaning, if my mother had a difficult time breastfeeding (milk production, drying up early, etc) does that mean I'm more likely to as well?

No.

"Abandoning the children in the forest to feed ourselves/  We will all stay more healthy if we do not distribute wealth/  Aimed friendly fire/  There is only greed living the life that we desire/  As we set sail across the raging sea/  Unconquerable by reality....."  Anti-Flag.

I have no idea... but if that's what you're worried about... don't be. My mom had a HORRIBLE experience breastfeeding me, she tried for 2 weeks and she quit... and never tried with my brother. Both my kids were EBF and did fine.

I am interested on what others already know though.

Absolutly not.Your hormones creates the milk, thats going to differ from your mothers. If it was a latch issue it probably lies in the nipple rather they were sensitive or mis shapen and you do not inherit nipples.
