Those of you with two under 2...

I have a 16 month old and a 3 month old. Im getting my liscense renewed in a few months (its been expired and no I havent driven), and the last time I was out (as in grocery shopping) it was just me and an 11 month old. Now its me, a 16 monh old and a 3 month old. I take them outside and I hold the baby while Anastasia (16 month old) plays in the grass and on the sidewalk. When its time to come in, I put the little one in his carseat and tell Ana its time to come in. She'll walk halfway to the door and then run the other direction. I have to set the baby down and chase after her. The entire time she is screaming her head off. I grab her hand and sometimes I have to literally drag her into the house. She's a little monster while our little one is an angel O,o

So my question is this. How do you do it?! How do you take them both out shopping or to relatives house? I cant imagine actually going somewhere with both kids and without my husband or SIL.

Please no bashing..

Well my twounder two, are now 9 and 10. But I recommend a good baby carrier, that leaves your hands free to hold on to the toddler. I like the Ergo.

I would set down some firm rules for being outside with mommy and baby sister/brother.  If she runs she gets a time out and/or next day no outdoor play time.  I am not usually a fan of them but in this case a child harness would be a good option if you need to take them both shopping with you.  GL with getting license renewed.  It is hard to take 2 young children anywhere but it can be done with firm rules and boundaries set in place.  I was able to take a 2 and 3 yo on the bus by myself (while babysitting before dd) across town to meet up with their mom.

It can be very difficult at times and you have to have a lot of patience and expect dirty looks. When my daughter was born my son was 15 months. She had acid reflux so she would just cry for no reason so I would be in the store and she would be screaming her head off and there was nothing I could do to make it better. I would make sure you dont spend to much tme out and about because the longer they are out the more roudy they get. You get used to it and it gets easier. Eventually you take them everywhere and its nothing. It just gets easier.

Oh! I have the Sleepy Wrap :)
For now I have to hold his head steady in it and my back isnt really that good right now, even with it off. I have a big stroller that the carseat goes into... I guess I could put the carseat into the cart and the toddler in the back of the cart... Ugh. Its like having an extra hand, I wouldnt know how to operate it.

Its easier when they get older, yes?

Yes it does get easier as the get older. If you have back problems, then I recommend the Ergo even more, I have a very bad back and I can wear it for hours with my 2.5 year old in it. It places all the weight on you hips and off your back.

do not put the toddler int he back they will find a awy to fall out....been there done that and it scared the crud out of me.....if the sling hurts your back invest in a child harness...some people don't like them but they are a life saver especially in situations like these

Mine are 17 months apart and this was a big issue for me. In fact one time we had to park on the street, I had the baby, the diaper bag and the toddler, I was trying to put the baby in his seat and hold on to her at the same time and she jerked from me, away from my grip and  out into the road and I basically had to throw the baby in and grab her, she almost got hit by a car- it was terrible and just writing this brought that memory back- I remember when I grabbed her, put her in and buckled the baby I almost threw up.  Good luck Mama!

Use a baby carrier/sling for the youngest one and a leash for the oldest one.

24 year old, God loving, tutu makin momma to Jenelle, Gracelynn, and Sapphire. Girlfriend to Rachel (not wife, because apparently some people are AGAINST two loving, consenting adults marrying).

Mine are 22 months apart and I have a DOUBLE stroller!! lol

It's really hard to take my almost 3 yr. old out without one if I am by myself with both kids... too much risk without it.

As for playing outside... I'd get a wrap or baby carrier so the baby is on you if you need to catch your daughter.
