Apparently the kids were practicing passing a basketball and the ball hit Kylie's hand wrong and jammed her finger.  Kylie started crying and the gym teacher asked what was wrong.  She showed him her finger and he told her to "get a drink and walk it off."  He told her she couldn't go to the nurse because class was almost over.

The school said they will "look into it" and I will be meeting with them on Monday.

Kylie went to the specialist today and he said the fracture should heal on its own.  Yay!  She has to keep it in the splint for four weeks, then go redo the x-ray to make sure it is healing properly.

She hurt her finger in gym class playing basketball, but since it was almost 3 pm (and school ended at 3:30 pm) the teacher told her to wait and NOT go to the nurse.  Well, when she got home I took her to the hospital and her finger is fractured.  She has to see a specialist tomorrow.

  • I would be pissed.  Are you calling or going to school first thing in the morning?  I want to hear their explanation for that.  I can't believe they just allowed her to be in pain and you weren't notified just because school was almost out.  She had to have been crying.  Didn't anyone even look at her finger?

  •  Hope your little girl feels better! And yes, you need to speak with the teacher about it. Maybe she didnt think it was that bad at the time? Maybe it didnt swell up right away ? I dont know, but I do know that I would be pissed and asking questions. Good luck!!

  • So sorry to hear about your daughter! I would call the principal! All kiddos go to the nurses office for injuries and I mean all unless it is a scraped knee and sometimes even then! We just always want to be sure!
