I was in Best buy today and noticed something white in my DD's mouth. At first i thought she was eating a paper or something and when i checked it looked like thrush. she has a little spot inside her upper lip and very very little on her tongue. i have never in my life seen or heard of this. first time i heard of it was yesterday when someone did a post on it. and i looked up a pic. i looked it up today and it said if an infant had it it was okay to go untreated..... does anyone know any thing about this? how did my DD get it? what did i do wrong? does it hurt her?
someone please reply. if not just bump please!!

Thrush is basically a yeast infection in the mouth!! Just call you ped, they will get you a prescription! All I know about thrush in baby's, is, their immune systems are not that strong when they are young and there for doesn't fight off the bacteria that well!! Just talk to your ped. Also, you want to make sure to sterilize everything!! If you breastfeed, clean before and after feeding!! Same with bottles, sippy cups and pacis!! Good luck!!
I finally feel whole!! I have the love of my life and our precious princess, Peyton Janelle!!! ![]()

It dark and damp in their mouth. It just happens the same way a yeast infection in a woman happens. My son had it and and it can hurt if it gets bad. His would bleed. The prescription from the doctor did clear it up relatively fast but thrush gets bad and fast without any medication.
it's basically a yeast infection in the mouth. i would not suggest letting it go untreated, because it can get worse. also, if you are nursing, it can be swapped back and forth (and it HURTS when it's on your nipple). take her in to the doctor and see what they say. when me & my son had it, the nystatin never worked. i ended up using gentian violet, which made it go away in like 3 days.

how they get it:

it didn't seem to hurt my son, because we caught it early & got rid of it, but it can get pretty bad and i would assume it could hurt. i know that it hurts nursing mommies... felt like my nipple was being lit on fire.

is there anything like at wal-mart or anywhere that i dont need a prescription for? her pedi is closed today and i would have to wait until monday to take her. she has it very lightly right now and i dont want it to get worse!
No, you have to go to a Dr to get a prescription. Keep an eye on it and if it starts to get worse, take her to the ER.
