oh geez, yet another snarky know it all.

op-if how long has she been doing this?   If she has had some hard stools, she may have fissures,or small tears around her rectum, which would make it painful to go again.   If that is the case, they will heal in a few days as long as her stools stay soft.   Have you tried dark Karo syrup in an ounce of water?

I saw another post kinda like this the other day. Some of the ideas I read from there were: Fig Newtons, Prunes, Prune Juice, Karo Syrup, and anything in general with higher fiber content. That's all I can remember from the other post, but I hope it helps at least just a bit...

the gerber prunes. mix it in oatmeal. or prune juice. she is obviously not getting enough fiber. raisin bran minus the rasins would be good for breakfast as well. karo syrup or mineral oil works too.

My daughter had this problem when she was about 16-18 months old. She would just scream and push and scream and push. Poor little thing. We tried everything that has been suggested here already: the fiber, fruit, etc. We tried suppositories, the whole nine yards. Her doctor did find some fissures caused by the extra hard/large stools, so naturally the kid was in great pain when she had a bowel movement. The doc finally recommended mineral oil. I can't remember how much we had to give her or how often (she's 14 now and loves me telling this story!!! lol ) but it totally did the trick. It wasn't much, maybe a tablespoon at night or something like that. She finally just grew out of the problem I guess, because after about a month of the mineral oil trick, she was fine and has been ever since.

Good luck. It's heartbreaking for Mommy when the kidlets are in pain like that!
