I just started my period today and im bleeding alot.More then 1 pad a hour and small clots.I have always had a really heavy period after i had my daughter but not this bad.Plus pretty bad cramps as well.Should i be worried?I remember someone telling me that if you bleed more then 1 pad a hour you should go to the er but im not sure how true that is.Any of you ladies have any advice on what i should do or if you are the same way when you get your period?
I have had issues with that as I have gotten older. I went to the doctor for it and they totally blew me off and said it is just a normal part of aging. It really sucks and gets extremely painful though. Sometimes it gets so bad that I tell my husband that a baby better be coming out if I have to be in this much pain.
This may be TMI, but it gets so bad that I can't even get up from the toilet after wiping well and take two steps to the shower without leaving a trail of blood. It is horrible.

Same here! My doctor told me the same thing. I get so bad with my periods that I am physically weak and light headed and I turn super pale.
I have had this a number of times. Doctor said my hypothyroidism was causing it. Last time I had a period like that, it was so heavy I passed out. went back to doctor he said I had lost 1/3 of my blood. They tested my hemoglobin and it should have been 12 and it was only 9. I'm on iron supplements now.

This might be too much info too, but i guess it is part of the post. i had very heavy periods too (like going through 4 super tampons in less than an hour) but I went on the pill. My husband is fixed & no, i don't cheat. but this has helped so much making my periods regular through the month & has helped so much with my cramps. I have only been on the pill for a couple of months but i would strongly reccommend this! It definitely saves a lot of money each month withhout having to buy so many "women products" - good luck
I have thyroid issues as well.

Yes that can effect it. I also have thyroid problems and it makes it sooo much worse. If you have not had that checked you might look into having your thyroid checked,
This is me too, I have the same experience as the other posters. I can't wear tampons because the bleeding is just too heavy for them to handle, even the 'super' ones. It is much better when I am on the pill, a lot less bleeding, hardly any clots and minimal pain.

Birth control makes it so much better to me too. But, I am trying to move away from hormones.
