I had an appointmet to meet with a doula today who I may hire to help with my labor and delivery since my hubby might be deployed when I give birth for the first time.
I woke up to an email from her, asking to reschedule. She had to rush off to the hospital with a client who went in to labor and is only 5 months. All I could think (aside from - that poor woman! I hope she and the baby are okay and they are able to stop her labor!) was, "But I'm five months!!!"
My newest fear - pre-term labor.
Did any of you deal with a way too early labor successfully? I know they would obviously do everything they could to stop labor this early. What are your experiences?
I was induced at 32 weeks due to Nicky having macromasia ..(He weighed 8lbs 12oz at 32 weeks) I couldn't have a c'sec due to a blood disorder I have...He was fine..I was doing 8 shots of insulin and 3 shots of steriods a day to help...(The steroids made the GD worse..lol)..He had low blood sugar and platelets but recovered real fast...

Drillers Wife, Toughest Job In The Oil Field.
my son (my first) he was preterm he was born at 33weeks he had gastroschisis and i was only 18 so i dont know really how to explain it but normally after 25weeks there is a good chance of baby surviving:) my second child i was 41weeks and counting when she came no probs there no worries no stress or itll make you panic
i had my daughter at 33 wks she was 3 lbs, i had her by emergency c section do to preeclampsia very scary but she did great she stayed in nicu for 1 mths she is now a healthy active 2 yr old...
i wont lie it is very scary but the medical field has so many advances now for preemies its amazing so although it was scary i knew there were doing everything possible for my baby girl... Good luck and try not to stress to much about it, you don't wanna stress yourself into preterm labor.....
Melissa :)

Aw, when you are pregnant, everything sends you into a panic.
(Staying off mom sites helps, and try not to read about or let anyone tell you about their "horror story" cause, everyone has one or knows of someone with one.)
The best thing you can do is NOT worry about preterm labor. Do your kick counts, pay attention to your baby, and relax. Don't worry about something that will probably never happen, and the stress isn't good for you.
If you did go into preterm labor, there is a lot that can be done to prevent the baby from coming really early. Don't worry about it until it happens!

I've had to go to the hospital 4 times for preterm labor since 25 weeks, and I'm now on week 31. They have lots they can do to help stop preterm labor, although if that baby really wants out, its going to come out. The good news is, there's so much they can do for preemies now, that the survival rates are pretty high. But the best possible thing you can do is not worry about it. The extra stress isn't good for your baby.

My oldest daughter was a 32 weeker. She spent 8 weeks in the NICU. She just turned 8 in Aug and is doing fine. My twins were born at 26 weeks (I was in preterm labor at 22 weeks) and they will be 3 on Tue. They spent 15 weeks in the NICU and my son had heart surgery and a grade 3 brain hemmorhage. They are both now Autisic but doing well.
These are my twins at 26 weeks
Morgan weighing 1 pound 14 oz

This is Michael at 2 pounds 6 oz

Here they are now

My body gave out and went into preterm at 24 weeks....Daughter was born 1lb 7oz, spent 5 months in hospital....Is now a happy, healthy 5 year old. It happens.....but thankfully medicine is getting more advanced and help for those little ones like my daughter is now available.
