My dr said i needed to wait until 6 weeks postpartum. But my baby is almost 3 weeks old now and my bleeding has stopped and i didnt tear or have an episiotomy. I wonder if it would hurt anything if we started before the 6 week check up?
i waited 6 weeks. there is a huge risk of infection if you have sex before then.AND a huge risk of pregnancy because your cervix is still wide open at that point.
A lot of women have sex before 6 weeks. I *think* the main reason they want you to wait is so they can check and make sure everything on the inside is healing up properly--otherwise, you can be open to infection. I waited the full 6 weeks--mainly because my husband wanted to be safe.

I want to know too! I am 2 weeks PP, and already wanting to start again...I plan to wait a little longer, but I don't think I can make it to the 6 week mark!
I did it at maybe 3 weeks last time and regretted it because it hurt and made it take longer for everything to heal. I don't recommend it. There are bruises and scrapes up there ya don't know ya have!
I know most doctors say 6wks.
With my first my OB told me 4wks and with my second she told me we could have sex once the bleeding had stoped so we wated around 2 1/2 weeks.

I've had a c-section and 2 natural deliveries. With the c-section, I waited the full 6 weeks. With my first natural delivery, the doc told me at my 2 week checkup (that ob/gyn did a check at 2 weeks and 6 weeks) that if I was fine to resume sex once the bleeding stopped. It was about 4 weeks postpartum when I did. The last baby, different ob/gyn, said that whenever I felt up to it, it was probally fine LOL We waiting about 3-4 weeks.
If you are really feeling up to it, make sure that your DH knows that you may want/need to stop! If it hurts, then you arent healed and ready!
I was always told I could after the bleeding stopped... I never really bled too long. With my first son, we waited 3 weeks. With my second it was the next week... (I was on pelvic rest the second half of my pregancy so as soon as it was comfortable)
