So, my husband is deployed so it is just the 4 boys and I at home.  My anniversary is coming up and it happens to fall on Veteran's Day.

I am wondering if I should still find a way to celebrate and what I should do?

  • Get a babysitter and take yourself out to dinner!  Enjoy something that the two of you would do together, and write him about it.

  • I would definitely find a babysitter, and go do something for yourself!  Get dressed up and go to dinner, taking pics of everything for him, make him feel like he was there!

  • I would. I have no idea what though. Maybe treat yourself to a night out without the kids. Dinner and a movie, maybe some shopping or something else you enjoy.

IF (and I know that is a big if since he is deployed) you get to talk to him, maybe you guys could have an internet date. (not sure if he has access where he is)

Either way, I definitely think you should celebrate.

  • You guys are right.  I should do SOMETHING.  I was thinking about just letting it be another day, but that isn't really right.  Luckily, I don't really need a babysitter because my oldest boys are 16 and 14 and can watch the 10 and 7 year old for a bit.

I was sick for awhile and have waited to long to get an eyebrow wax.  Maybe I will do that and get a haircut and go to a movie or something.  I just don't want to do anything that will make me feel lonely, kwim?

  • Pamper yourself during the day and celebrate with your kids in the evening??  Send the pictures to your dh.

  • to bad the Applebees and Outback only give the Active Duty member the free stuff, or i would have suggested taking yourself out to eat. But you should enjoy your day, maybe get a mani/pedi. Maybe a new hair color like highlights, lowlights or whatever...a massage.....a anniversary ring...lol..kidding. my dh was deployed for our anniversary too, and i regret not doing anything. I should have though.

  • I was thinking about saying something like that (date), but I know where DH is, the internet in the rooms is horribly slow and hit or miss for connection.  Even the internet in the "internet cafe" is a little slow.
