My nieces calling hours were tonight. I stayed home from the one this afternoon to watch little kids; and my cousin stayed home this evening so i could go. Tomorrow for her funeral we are going to have my sister-in-laws friend son and daughter stay and keep an eye on them for the hour or so until we get back.

This afternoon while i was here one of my SIL's friends called and asked if we needed anything, I told her no, but if she was going to bring any dishes or whatnot for tomorrow she needs to be sure it doesn't include anything peanuty..My sister's kid is deathly allergic. She said ok no peanuts.

Well tonight we all got home from the calling hours and she shows up with tomorrow's covered dish..and guess what she bought? BUCKEYES!! They are straight up peanut butter.  Now remember everyone else is like in a state of shock still; especially my SIL and brother. Their daughter died, and their other, her twin, is in the hospital. I am glaring at this lady and i ask her is this soy butter? or is this peanut butter? She says peanut butter. I looked at her and was like "OMG WHAT IN THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING!?!?! DO YOU REALLY WANT THIS FAMILY TO LOSE SOMEONE ELSE! At this point i am livid. Everyone is like OMG Cris..what are you doing she didn't know. I am like bullshit she called earlier. I told her no peanuts and what does she do..brings a dish chalked full of peanut butter!! This lady then goes I didn't call earlier. I said bullshit; grabbed the phone and showed them all when she called. BEVERLY W********** is what the caller ID said...and last i checked SHE was BEVERLY W**********.

I was so pissed off. I threw the buckeyes in the trash and tossed her container in the car and then made all of them, wash their hands.

Now everyone thinks i was too hard on her. Yeah maybe i was. But i told her earlier..and maybe i shouldn't have basically told her she was going to kill another member of my family by bringing that in there. Maybe THAT was a little harsh.

Everyone is in bed now..and I'm still not feeling bad about what i did. My sister is proud of what i said, especially when i proved that lady had called and then was backpeddling once i proved she called, she tried to say that i never told her to bring peanut dishes..whatever liar.

Noone else gets it and i think they think i am going to lose it soon. My own husband looked at me like i was about to explode or something. Really pissed me off.

Whatever though.

  • What the heck is wrong with that lady?  She just IGNORED what you had told her earlier in the day?  Everyone knows that a food allergy can be life threatening.

    yeah pretty much!

I think she already had them made and then called to see..I don't think she realized that just breathing that in could kill him. I probably shouldn't have said what i said, the way i said it, but that just really tossed me right over the edge.

  •  Good for you, standing up for your nephew. I don't know what that woman was trying to pull, but you put her in her place.

  • I don't even know what Buckeyes are.

And that was pretty insensitive of her. Not sure she would've been able to walk out of my house.

  • Yeah, I would have done the same thing I think. I don't really think anyone could blame you. You guys are grieving the loss of someone already...then someone goes and does that. It would irritate the hell out of me, and scare me to no end. I would ne terrified that the poor kid would have gotten too close, or touched something that had it on it. Eek. No thank you.

I don't think you should feel bad. Maybe you were a little hard on her, but she could have killed your nephew because she was too dumb to listen to you.

Try and relax, and don't feel bad mama.

she died in a car accident. She was 21. Her twin sister; isn't handling this very well. They were close...i mean EXTREMELY close so we had to hospitalize her.
