  • Unless you've talked to them numerous times about it, and it's REALLY a problem....absolutely not okay to get the police involved in my opinion. I used to call my landlord and ask her first to talk to them, and that seemed to work.

  • then no I would have addressed him first this time and explained the situation and informed him you wanted to settle this between you both before anyone else was involved.  A couple weeks ago is too far past imo.

  • You live on a college campus, and you expect college kids to 'tone it down' at 10pm?? Wow. I wouldn't, lol.

  • I had a neighbor who would always leave his tv on and he had the loudest movies playing at all hours of the night. And I talked to my landlord and he didn't care. I wasn't going to go other to the neighbor because one - I was home alone with my kids and my husband was at work. And I never met the guy and I never ever saw him at all. So Finally after three nights in a row of loud movies at 2 am, I called the police. I believe it was the best thing to do in my problem with these neighbor, it took the cops yelling and banging on the door for 30 mins to get him to turn it down. He got a ticket for noise and so did the landlord.

  • I dont see the big deal in you calling the cops. I think it was a reasonable thing to do!

Why should you have to leave your kiddos in the house unattended  while you go downstairs to ask some idiots to turn down their TV.

It's not like they're gonna get charged with anything.

So I think you did the right thing =)

  •  all the power to you mama, i have the same problem with my neighbors except i get it from downstairs and next door.  and to make matters worse, they both smoke pot.  in fact, i called the narcotics unit and had to leave an effing message which i think is ridiculous.  we've complained about noise to our landlord and he makes us deal with it on our own before he'll butt in.

i remember back when i was still pregnant with our one month old, there was a day when the asshole downstairs had his shit up so loud with the bass going even more so, the floor vibrated and i could hear it over the traffic outside.  i honestly thought it was cars going by with their stereo systems cranked! later that night, it was about 10:15ish and DF had to go downstairs and ask him to turn it down.  and the jerk gave DF a hard time saying that our dogs were running around upstairs; funny cuz they'd been sleeping on the bed the whole time.
