Ive been putting it off for mo's now, but I ffinally scheduled it, and im extrememley nervous..soooo..anyone else had one done? how'd it go?
I had mine out last year. It was a simple surgery. I went in at 6 and was home (45 minute drive) by noon.
Just a little warning, this does not apply to everyone but, after having your GB out there may be certain foods that you eat that may require a quick trip to the restroom.
Yeah it was easy. I was at the hospital at 8 am and out by 12. The surgery itself only took an hour, but they send patients to recovery for two hours after just for monitoring. The after part sucks. Since the gallbladder is the part that processes bile, you will have diarrhea (like multiple times a day...and you can't hold it) anywhere from 4-6 months after. So, the first 6 months I really had to make sure I was near a toilet. It has been almost a year after and my body is finally adjusting

Mommy to Ciara, Jamie, and a little girl on the way!
I got mine out in March of '08 ....the surgery itself was not bad...I was hospitalized for 5 days because I went in on an emergency basis and I had stones in my liver ducts and had turned yellow...all because they would not take my gallbladder out the first 5 times I went to the hospital...ugh...but anyway..I am 2 yrs post op and still have bouts with diahrea...soooo good luck..the surgery is not bad at all....my suffering to get there was the hard part for me....good luck..
