so on n off the past few years i get an occasional cyst (usually on my right ovary) they usually cause me some pain n go away on their own (they usually happen around ovulation) well since being prego i had some really sharp pains on my right side around 5-6weeks, and it went away but at my ultrasound at 7w5d the tech sd i have a small cyst on my right ovary i thought oh that explains the pain.... well since last night its been hurting any where from a 4 to 8.5 on the pain scale (10 being most painful) and i just think its kinda odd to have a cyst while pregnant... has anyone else had this? does it fix its self? what if it doesnt what do you have to do?

Cysts do occur when pregnant.  There is a type (can't remember name, sorry) that has to occur when pregnant cause its what produces the hormones that you must have to keep your baby alive.  I developed a large cyst on my right ovary when I got pregnant and it hurt like a sonofa....

Everytime I went to the doctor and he would gently push around on my abdomen, it would start causing sharp pains for the rest of the day.  :(  This went in varying degrees of pain until a few weeks ago.  I am almost 12 weeks now and want to say it stopped around 9 weeks or so.

If you are concerned, make a doctor appt.  I honestly think its okay, but, I do know they can rupture.

Ive had a cyst twice the size of my bladder on my left ovary throughout this pregnancy. They gave the possibility of a surgery to remove it during the second trimester but I said no because it didn't cause me pain. They have been monitoring it with ultrasounds throughout to make sure it isn't growing, and when I go into labor I can schedule a surgery (cut through belly button) to remove it. Ive been told numerous times that if it ruptures it can't harm the baby but it may cause premature labor.

Hi there - actually my mom had surgery for a cyst on her ovary while she was pregnant with me (and I'm the oldest of three girls). She actually had to have the ovary (not just the cyst) removed. I like to think I turned out OK, and both my sisters certainly did ...

Definitely talk to your doc about your discomfort ... it probably won't be a huge deal to get it taken care of if that's what you decide you'd like to do.

Good luck!

I know a girl who did have a rather large cyst on her ovary during the pregnancy of her second boy . She went through about 4 months of pain and they wouldn't do an MRI for some reason or another. Then she has really horrible pain and thought she was losing the baby, turns out the cyst burst, she had to have emergency surgery while 7 months pregnant, she lost one over her ovaries. The wound go infected.. it was a really big issues.

Long term her baby came out just fine and on time. But she still suffers major pain from her back area, they are attributing to scaring.
