Feeling kind of depressed today, can someone cheer me up?
So DH and I have decided that it's better for us, financially, if we don't drive the 1200 miles to go home for Christmas. So that means this will be my first Christmas away from my family :(
So let's post some funny pictures/jokes (kind of like Friday Funnies) to cheer everyone up and just give everyone a laugh for the day.
Here's some LOL cats, I love them.

"I like fruit baskets because it gives you the ability to mail someone a piece of fruit without appearing insane. Like, if someone just mailed you an apple you'd be like 'Huh? What the hell is this?', but if it's in a fruit basket you're like 'This is nice!.'"

Hope this isn't offensive, but I thought if it made me chuckle. it would also make you chuckle. Gawd, they are brave to have all that hanging out? haha

Please do not take this as bashing or making light of your sadness. I know it is difficult when we have to miss traditions, and family is very important. However, as bad as it seems try to think about the positives you have in your life. Sometimes we need to put out problems in perspective. There is at least one other mom on CafeMom who would love to have your problem. Her mother was at Ft hood and this is what she had to say in another thread the other day after the shooting "it is not OK that fucker shot my mom she is dead" As I said sometimes when we think we have a problem and we get very depressed by it because it seems to change our life, we do not know how it can shrink when compared to another's problem. I am sure you can start a new tradition with christmas at your house. Iam truly sorry you are unable to go home this year and wish you the very best holiday season
I live at Ft. Hood, I'm well aware of the events of the last few days. I am in no way comparing my situation to anyone else's.
Personally I feel your reply was un-necessary. I never said this was going to consume my entire life or ruin my life or anything like that.
And I don't want to sound harsh, because yes I know our fellow CMers poor mother was killed, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to stop venting about our problems.
