Going to Adopt...

Me and DH are planning on adopting, I have one DD who is 11 months old, and two step-daughter one that lives with us full time.  Me and DH have decided that we do not want anymore  babies...so we are both getting fix..LOL

Which i am so happy about, i really did not want to go though other pregnancy like i did with DD.

My mother thinks it's a bit strange that we do not want anymore babies but we want more kids. We decided that we want to adopt older children..no one younger then 12. I have always wanted to adopt, but i know my limits there no way i can handle other infant.

So do you guys think it a bit strange to want more kids but no more babies?

I think it's great you want to adopt an older child.  They are usually the ones that don't get adopted since most people want babies. Good luck.

Absolutely not, it is a wonderful thing to adopt older children, because they are the ones who have the hardest time finding a family...most families want babies, not kids, so these older children get the bad end of the deal...it's a wonderful thing to be willing to adopt these children that need a family so badly.

I think its GREAT, those are the ones that are usually left out and not adopted since everyone wants younger ones, I dont think its weird, I think its AWESOME! Go for it!!!

I agree with the other posts, I think it's wonderful that you want to adopt an older child.  Most people who want to adopt want infants.  Adopting older will also make it easier to adopt.  My DH and I are starting classes to foster and eventually adopt.  They told me I could foster 5 so that is how many I will be adopting if the situation arises.  I want younger children but I am only 26 not sure I could handle 5 teenagers. LOL!

i honestly think that it is great! so many of the older kids just get pushed aside because parents goo and gaa over the infants they can adopt....we plan on adopting one, and df doesnt want the child to be under 8ish.....its a great thing to give an older child a secure home and family :)
