When did you start potty training your LO? My dd is 13 months and loves to be in the bathroom. Well I was going to get her potty chair and the Elmo potty DVD for Easter and potty train her the week I have off of school for Spring Break when she will be 17 months..However, I have heard more and more kids being potty trained earlier. So I thought maybe getting it for her for Christmas..any suggestions?

Just because she likes to be in the bathroom doesn't mean she's ready to potty train. You should really wait until your child shows an interest in potty training otherwise it can backfire on you. It doesn't hurt to get a potty chair now and sit her on it every so often but don't push the issue. She'll start to potty train when she is ready to. My DS is going to be 3 next week and he potty trained himself this past spring/ summer. He did it on his own time when he was ready to.

I started at the end of August this year and by mid-Sept he was wearing underwear all day and only diapers at night. He's 2 1/2.

I started my DD at 18 months...she did great, then we moved and she regressed not wanting anything to do with and I JUST got her going again this week almost a year later...its touch and go I think and depends on the child and circumstances.

I started my son about a month before he turned 2 and he was done by his birthday.  I can't imagine doing it much earlier than that, but every kid is different.

We're trying with my dd who is 18 months.  She's gone pee pee and poo poo a few times, but we're not pushing it too much because of her age.

I just want to be important to someone and it's pretty damn obvious, I'm NOT important to him. Why is it still so hard to walk away?

Kind of agree with the previous poster. My DS is 2 yrs and 8 months. He's been potty trained for about 2 months now. Around 18 months, he started showing interest in the potty so I did what you're thinking of, got a potty and the DVD...but he would have none of it. I didn't push it on him, but would mention it every so often. I finally got to the point where i didn't want to spend the money on diapers anymore and told him that as soon as the pack of diapers was gone, that was it. He was going to stat going on the potty. Every diaper change I would tell him "oh, only 8 more diapers until you start using the big boy potty!!!" And God bless 'em....he did it. We had a few accidents the 1st few days, but really he's done awesome. Even at night. I didn't do pull ups or diapers at night. When we stopped, we stopped period. Everyonce in a while he'll still ask for a diaper but I just know that means he needs to do a BM. He's not a huge fan of doing them in the potty but he does. I kinda went off the 3 day method and in it, the lady says that you can start pretty young, it depends on the kid.

Overall, I say go for it. It's not gonna hurt anything, as long as you don't force the issue. Oh! And I used the sticker reward system, with a toy motorcycle at the end of the first few weeks if he didn't have any accidents. (DS is in love with motorcycles, just like momma and daddy)

Good luck though!!

i even got sooo much crap from other moms in my play group cause kayde wasnt trained but i dont care and didnt care they arent me and their kids arent my kids

i didnt start til my dd was dry all night and at nap time...when she was almost 3..well this wasd april and her bday is aug 12 2006 it took her a month and she caught on fast i just stoped buying diapers and used pull ups for all of march then underwear she regressed a little when she started pre school but i think preschool helped to cause she sees everyone doing it..

to each their own and best wishes to all

i just dont believe in doing it just cause I WANT them to do it or cause it cheaper then buying diapers i do whats best for my kiddos and let them choose when they are ready

Awesome! Im hoping she is easy..She's not old enough to really understand getting rewards for going in the potty so I'm sure she is still too young! I will probably start around 18 months or so!
