Rear facing car seat question...

Hi ladies, we just bought the Cosco - Scenera 5-point convertible car seat for our almost 1 year old, we will be keeping it rear facing, but are having issues installing it. On the pictures on the side of the seat, and in the instructions, it looks like it should be reclined back some, and the front "foot" looks like its almost up on the back of the seat some. When we do it like this, it doesnt feel secure at all. but if we set it flat in the seat, its straight upright, and then doesnt match the pictures. Any ideas? Thanks! Here is a link to the walmart ad for it http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8054494

Do you or can you take a picture of how the install looks now?

Also you should join the Car Seat Safety Group and post this in there as well.

Is the "kickstand" also known as the foot  folded down or up right now with the install you have?

my son has that car seat in the back there should be a kickstand thingy that moves i think you have to pull down than push it up twords the front of the seat and its hard to get it to fit right

Okay join that group I gave you.

You will need to most likely use some pool noodles or tightly rolled towel to get a proper recline you need.  Techs in that group can guide you through it.

Here is an example of what I am talking about:

you can try using a rolled up towel or pool noodles taped together to get the angle right.

also if you visit www.safekids.org you can find a tech or a check up station or event in your area and they can help you get it in right.

My niece is 14 months old and I still need to use pool noodles or a tightly rolled towel to get the seat at the right recline.  With the towel, I am able to get the seat to an appropriate angle for her age and I'm able to get the seat nice and tight.

Make sure you are checking movement at the belt path only, not at the top of the seat.  As long as the seat doesn't move more than an inch front to back or from side to side through the belt path, then the seat is in nice and tight.  It will feel wobbly at the top of the seat and that is how it is designed to be
