I would love to know what some people in here think of the situation who have really close friends or family who have been fighting over there.
I support the troops...and we hear about Iraq ALL THE TIME (its my feeling that the war there just isn't win-able though)...but Afghanistan, from what I've heard, is the most dangerous place on the planet right now. My best friend, the one who has ALWAYS been there for me and I for him and love dearly, sadly does not live in the same country as me...and more than that...he has spent most of his military career in Afghanistan. Hes told me more than I should know, but what is ok to tell is how crazy it is over there. If you look up articles about Helmand you will know what I'm talking about. What I have heard is that it has gotten more dangerous for ALL of the troops over there with Obama's plan...but as he told me...its necesarry to ever have a chance of getting the upper hand. I think that the war in Afghanistan is win-able, but more troops are needed for the really big push the war needs. Its too dangerous for the troops there with the low numbers, and this war will last forever if it keeps up this way....I'm interested to hear what other people think after speaking with loved ones who have been there?
Well we aren't leaving Iraq people will still be there but we have turned a lot of things over to there own people (IA, ploice and what not) I think thats a win. With Afgan yeah they need more people they have know that for years. Thats where we need to be...... you know what i can't do this. send them all home and take care of our soldier before anything eles. Sorry i live in FT.Hood and i can't handle what happened. Hope u find answers
I know what you mean...i can't STAND having my loved one over there in danger...its been so hard these last couple of years...and i'm always worrying...hes been injured twice already pretty bad...but its not like I have any say in him being out or not...neither does he...its the reality now and since he has to be there i just want him as safe as possible.

My husband has been deployed to Afghanistan for about 4 months. He's already done a 15 month tour in Iraq. I am definitely worried about him, but it's out of my control so I try not to think about it. He's not in the most dangerous location, but it's pretty bad. His brigade has lost at least 25 soldiers already. His unit hasn't lost any but there have been some injuries, 2 severe enough to evacuate back to the states. I definitely would rather him have gone back to Iraq this time. I'm ready for this deployment to be over already but we still have a long way to go. He doesn't tell me much about what goes on and for good reason. One, he can't really talk about and secondly, he knows it would make me worry even more. But you don't have to look far to see what is happening on the news. I didn't find out about a lot of his experiences in Iraq until after the fact and I'm glad he never told me that stuff while he was there.
