and not his pooper.  At a distance I told my dh it looks like a blister just put some ointment on it.  He was wearing a sposie while I washed our cloth.  He has never ever had a reaction to disposables before at least not this brand and this package that is almost gone.

I got closer and it was not a blister but a hole in his skin and it was pretty deep.  I am def going to call the ped on Monday, but I need some ideas now.

I didn't put ointment on it because it is deep and it just isn't something you would put ointment on.

Any ideas.

UPDATE

I took this picture about an hour ago.  He has since pooped and poo got all inside of it.  I stuck in him the bath with some baking soda it was so gross.  It is clean again I took this pic in to the local pharmasist down the road and she said if it gets worse to go to the ER, but for now put triple anti bacterial ointment on it.

It has gotten a little wider since yesterday but not any deeper, and a lot more puss.  I am cutting some liners for his cloth diapers right now, so he can wear his cloth, and I washed all of his cloth with TTO to disinfect them.

UPDATE AGAIN:

This morning it as a little wider and all white inside, and I couldn't wipe it out this time it had hardened while he slept.

The ped isn't sure what it is.  He gave us some cream to put on it and at 2:15 he is going to the hospital to have the sore swabbed and some blood work done.  We should know by the end of the day for sure what it is.

Final Update I hope:

It is a minor staph infection probably caused by a cut from Nick's hands spending too much time inside of his diaper.

We have to basically sterilize our house and everything Nick's behind has touched.  All of the second hand stuff that is listed in my HC will be re-washed in tea tree oil to disinfect it and put in ziplock bags out of Nick's reach in my room with all of my other stuff.

He has a perscription antibiotic ointment for the next few days if it doesn't clear up he will be getting oral meds on Thursday.

  • Where is it at? Is it at the top of the "crack"?

  • Omg, vacuum your carpet and then hand check your carpet along the walls... he may have sat on something.  Our carpet is so old in our house that there are nails sticking up along the walls that I have to watch my son around.  Does not sound good though.  I would honestly take him in tomorrow.  Does he have an up to date tetanus shot?  That is so scary.  Does it look like  a puncture wound?

I'm a vaxing, circing, disposable diaper using, bf switched to ff, CIO sometimes, pushed 1hr before a c-section (and don't regret it), college graduate, loving my son, can't wait to have another baby, trust your own judgement, kind of mom.

  • Never had that problem. Does it look infected or is it just a hole?

  • Staph infection presents itself as a "bump" and then an infection or "hole".

Keep it covered, don't mess with it, and take him to a doctor in the morning, just in case.

  • Does it look infected, is it bleeding? I would be freaking the fuck out and searching the house for anything he could have sat on that pierced his little bum.

  • It could be a reaction to something in the disposable diaper he had on but,it also could be a yeast infection.Yes,babies do get them both boys and girls and it does look like little open sores(they sometime ooz clear liquid).I've had a couple of mine have a yeast infection when they were little and was told to use monostat or one of the other over the counter creams that you would use for yourself. It worked well.my suggestion is to check with the doctor, call him or his on call and see what they say you can do before monday.Hope it heals quickly.

  • It is on his cheek, our apartment is kind of newer, so no lose nails, and it isn't that deep.

On another group staph was suggested.  I looked it up and found this picture it looks almost just like this but a bit deeper.

  • Not to alarm you, but my DH says it could be a spider bite. Like a brown recluse spider. Is it infected? Is your baby in any pain?

  • it looks infected but I don't understand how it could happen in under 3 hours it has yellow stuff in it.

We don't know if he is in pain.  He is 20 months has autism and doesn't feel any pain.

  • Is there a 24hr nurse line you can call? Is your Pedi on-call?

Try calling the hospital and find out what they think you should do. That's really not something you should wait for. Especially if it's deep and just appeared between diaper changes.
