I have a job interview on Tuesday, its 1 1/2 hour away, one way. I was fired last week and if I don't have to collect unemployment, I really do not want to, but will be grateful to have it if I need it. The job seems like a great job, doing exactly what I want to do and I'm very qualified. There is no way we can move the family , my SO is in the military and his son moved with us in June. Its very important to me that his son gets to stay in one home for his last 3 years of high school. He does not know how to make friends, and he needs a stable life for the first time.
I will be gone from 6am til 7pm, Monday thru Friday. Our kids are 19 and 16, 16. my SO will be home with the kids more his mlitary job is very cushy now.
Would you do it?
super far! It takes a lil over 2 hrs...on public transportation...15 MINUTES BY CAR!!! SMH! We are trying to get a new car after the holidays so he can spend more time at home.
As long as the price of gas isn't an issue, then I totally would do it! It would be hard to be away for that large portion of the day, but your kids are old enough that it should be fine. Good luck!!

I think for the amount of time you'll be there each day, 5 days out of the week and the money you'll be bringing in for your family that the drive would make it worth it.
Hope you have a fuel efficient car.
My hubbys commute to work is about 20mins.
I commute 45 miles, wish there was a job similar closer, but there's not. By the time errands are done, it ends up being gone 12 hours some days, and I'm ready to drop. And that's a lot of money down the gas tank, even if you do have a fuel efficient car.
My hubby's drive is about 5 mins. lol We live on base so it's close.
I would figure out gas and how much you're bringing in. Is the drive worth it? If it is, then yes I would do it. You don't have little ones so I wouldn't worry about them too much.
when my husband is home, it is about 20 minutes for him to go to work. We are military and right now he is deployed.... not really sure what the commute is there for him...LOL
As far as your situation...... My mom did something kinda similar. For a while, she worked at a place that was almost 2 hours away from her. Her hours were 5am-7pm daily.... and sometimes worked till 10 at night. She found a great deal at a hotel that rented the rooms by the week and stayed there monday-friday when the hours were crazy at work and if the hours slowed down, then she came home every night. Good luck to you. I personally wouldnt do it, but jobs are scarce, and you do what you have too. Good Luck!!

Luckily I do have a great economicaly sound car.
With all that you have been through, it would be a NO BRAINER for me. Yes, I would do it. commute and all. The children are old enough to be alone- and dad is there to keep things semi sane. Why not. Just remember that you are commuting and will be tired so keep that in mind with mornings and evenings...may want to check the drive out during the time you have to make it. I'm happy for you! You sure deserve this one girl!!
