Pro Choice is not Pro Abortion

I keep seeing a million abortion posts, and automatically if someone is pro choice they are pro abortion. Which I just wanted to say something simple... Being Pro Choice, does not mean you are pro abortion, want abortions to happen, or would have an abortion yourself.

I am pro choice, I personally would NEVER have an abortion, and I do not want to see them happen, but it is a necessary in society today, and I understand that. I am the child of a mother who had two children before abortion was legal, and she has helped to shape my views.

I just wish people would not be so upfront judgemental if someone supports abortion being legal.

I agree with you! Tho I personally have never and would never have one I do support an individuals right to choose. I do wish the stipulations for abortions were different, anyone under 18 should have to have a parent present, they should only be done in the 1st trimester, and there should be a 3 time limit! Some kind of reason NOT to get one.

At least have the courage to stand up and admit which side of the fence you are on don't hide behind semantics.  Thinking it is ok to kill a baby as long as your not the one who ACTUALLY does it  doesn't relive you of the responsibility for your stance. If you believe something is ok at least have the guts to say so. Don't hide behind semantics.

I am so glad you posted this. I totally agree with you also. I hate when people assume that I am pro-abortion.

I am pro-choice simply because I think EVERY woman should have the RIGHT to CHOOSE and also has the RIGHT to not be made to feel like a horrible person for her choice. Unfortunately there will always be mean, judgemental people out there waiting to scream murderer in a womans face. I can't stand those self-rightous b****es.

Anyway my point is that I completely agree with you.

I'm not either. I am pro-BORN. Take care of the children who are already here. Fix or improve such things as poverty, joblessness, mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction to name a few and give people some parenting classes and I think the abortion rate would go down.

Here we go........this is going to get ugly. There is always someone calling baby-killer on us. Ya, know because that's what I like to do, kill babies. Would you give me a break lady? IT'S NOT KILLING A BABY!

As long as there are selfish people it will maintain a status quo. I also work to help foster kids and the less fortunate.

I do have the courage to say what side of the fence I am on... and I just did.

So do I, which has made me more firm in my stance.

What?! Does that mean I can stop standing outside of Babies R Us screaming at women on their way in to sign up for baby registries to abort?

But someof your more extreme pro lifers don't want to believe that.  They claim we justify murder.  Well quite frankly they use the name "pro choice" to justify their bashing and insults to those of us who have never or will never get an abortion.  Of course they are even worse to those who have had one.  They use their beliefs to JUSTIFY hurting and insulting young women who were scared.  They use it to justify holding up signs of aborted fetuses in places where there may be young children.  I have no issue with pro lifers.  To be honest I'm on your side, I wish we didn't have abortion.  I wish we lived in a world where it wasn't needed.  But we need a lot of changes for that to happen.  I've said this once but it bears repeating.

Until...

  • we switch to sex ed that isn't abstinence only or we made at home sex ed mandatory by a certain age (which I don't agree with...but waiting till your child is 10 or 11 isn't going to cut it these days).
  • We provide an infallable insurance program for all uninsured pregnant women that covers the ever ignored middle classes too.
  • We provide enough shelters and homes for all the women who may face violence from family members or abusive partners.
  • We provide a better foster care system where every child is adopted and not left to fall into the cracks or face abuse.
  • We provide free therapy for raped women who become pregnant.
  • Provide birth control to underage young women without parental consent, but it carries with it many requirements on the kids parts (yes boys too)
  • We eradicate all back alley abortions

Until then...I don't like it but we need to provide women with a choice.
