i dont keep up with the news. what health care bill
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091108/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_care_overhaul
I haven't read up on it yet.
In a nutshell though, if it is for Universal Healthcare I am strongly opposed... I would rather have expensive but accessible healthcare than to have free, but inaccessible healthcare.
If the bill is for a trigger option, or the reform in general to cover the "uninsurable" (those with preexisting conditions) then I am strongly in favor.
I feel that people should be responsible for paying for their own healthcare.... but when you have a preexisting condition, it is impossible to obtain ANY private insurance, no matter what you are willing to pay. We are the perfect examples. My son was born with a heart condition. When my husband switched jobs and his new company doesn't provide insurance, we decided "fine, we will just purchase it privately"..... NOT. We can afford insurance easily - but nobody (and I do mean nobody) would insure our son.
I am a Private School sending, Vaccinating, Non spanking, Nightmare Cuddling, Dessert Giving, Homework Helping, Bedtime Kissing, Book Reading, Academic pushing Mum. I believe in the benefit of organized after school activities. I believe in spoiling my children. I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it raising my child - I will do that, Thank You. I believe that a woman's place is in the home taking care of her house, children and husband. I am submissive and proud, my husband is head of my home. I am a proud, traditional Roman Catholic, as is my husband... Yes we are teaching our daughter that The Church is the only Church. Aimee
I think it is horrible. Anytime you make the general public even more reliant on the government for life it ends badly. Look at the public welfare system, a monumental disaster of corruption and abuse. Americans are lazy and need to start taking responsibility for themselves. Everyone would have more if some started doing more!
Although in the beginning, before I heard what all comes with it and how it's going to be done ,I was for it. But after getting familiar with over the past couple of month I strongly oppose it.
It is my understanding that all insurance companies will have to insure those with preexisting conditions.
WASHINGTON — These are some of the changes in the way health insurance would work in the United States if the House bill were to become law:
1. Creates a government-run plan, or "public option," to offer insurance coverage to compete with private sector insurance companies.
2. Sets up health insurance "exchanges," or marketplaces, where consumers can easily compare coverage and rates.
3. Requires nearly everyone to obtain health insurance coverage starting in 2013.
4. Ends blanket exemption for insurers from anti-trust laws.
5. Provides federal financial help for lower and middle income consumers so they can obtain coverage.
6. Bars insurers from denying or limiting coverage because of pre-existing conditions.
7. Bars insurers from imposing lifetime limits on coverage.
8. Expands Medicaid coverage to more people.
9. Imposes a 5.4 percent surcharge on adjusted gross incomes of more than $500,000 for individuals and $1 million for joint filers.
10. Imposes penalties on people and businesses who fail to comply with the new law.
