Some doctors are just saying NO to the swine flu vaccine

Some doctors are just saying no to the swine flu vaccine - - Washington Post - "'My feeling is that this is all being over-hyped,' said Laurence J. Murphy, a pediatrician in Burke who also will not inoculate his patients. 'Most people who get this virus do beautifully. I believe the vaccine hasn't been tested enough. I just think the benefit of it at this point is not outweighed by the possible risk.' ...  Murphy is not alone. A smattering of obstetricians, family practice doctors, internists and other physicians nationwide who harbor doubts about safety of the vaccine or the danger the flu poses raise questions on blogs and during interviews, and counsel their patients not to get the immunization. 'What bothers me is pretty much every doctor in the country is jumping on the bandwagon and saying, 'This vaccine is completely safe' -- even for the pregnant woman and the unborn baby,' said Bob Sears, of Orange County, Calif. "But they can't give you a single study that backs up that statement.' ... But Meryl Nass, an internist in Bar Harbor, Maine, still has doubts, especially given that most people who become infected get only mildly ill. 'In this situation, when there's very little data, I don't think people -- and children in particular -- should be asked to bear the burden of being experimental subjects,' said Nass, who has been blogging about her doubts."

The US gov't bought 70 million doses of the swine flu vaccine--they've got to do something with it--I guess making our children guinea pigs doesn't concern them!

This is made just like the reg flu shot-nothing new on that and next years flu shot will more than likely have this strain included in it-due to the fact I laways get the reg flu shot for me and my kids that is why will be getting this vac this coming Friday.  I dont see it as being experimental.  I know many dr's didnt get it because they normal dont get the flu vac, but I do know a few who did-2 of the dr's in our dr's office did, and they always get the reg flu vac also.  IT's a choice for everyone.

Its not surprising that some dr.s aren't educated about the vaccine. Thats sort of true with most things in life. That doesn't mean that I want to catch the flu just because some random Dr somewhere never looked into how it was made.

Yeah pretty bad when the scientist that make the vaccine refuse to get it. Neither myself or my children will get it either. I agree, it's too new and not been tested long term or thoroughly for side effects or effectiveness.

My son's ped. told me he didn't really need either one. She didn't object when I said I absolutely would not be getting my 9mo old the regular flu shot and when she called to tell me the Swine Flu shot was out for my 2.5yr old I tol her no thank you we already had it. She told me behind closed doors that she doesn't blame me and none of her 4 kids are getting it and this is at a Naval Hospital. I know my hubby had to get it because he is in the military and if he objected he would have gotten in trouble but no1 else in my house will get flu shots or swine flu shots because we can fight them off.

What gets me is that no one knows what side effects will come from it 1 year down the road 2,3 ,4 -5 years down the road. Sure its been recently tested and they say its good to go but they also don't know the long term effects
