i say impossible for a few reasons. she lives in ohio and i live in cali. she comes to visit but i cant give her something heavy to take on the plane. clothes-forget it! jewelry, she doesnts really wear it. house decor, uh no room left in her house. usually we get her stuff like slippers, gloves, we have given jewelry but her taste is so different than mine i worry she wont like it. much like my dh, if they dont like it they dont dare say anything. i would rather they did so my money didnt go down the drain!
i wont do gift cards because i think she feels its not personal. UGH!! freakin ugh!! lol
we bought her a picture tree once to fill with pics of her grandaughter, and when we went to visit it was sitting there in a pile of junk unused!
maybe i will do gift cards lol
What I do...I put pictures in the picture frames......
It's a great gift for the person who has evrything..like both my MIL's.
whats your budget? I would find a nice day spa and get her a spa day..cant really go wrong with that. what are her interests? My MIL loves the theater so we buy her tickets to the opening night shows where they live...Just a thought.
yes we have given her pics. i worry about the glass on the frame breaking. maybe i will take her and my dd to get their pic taken, but to get her to do anything while visiting is like pulling teeth!!
I always do gift cards for people hard to buy for. They could get what they like and you don't end up wasting money on something someone isn't going to use.
a scrap book of the the events she has missed. a blanket idk good luck though
that is the thing, she has no interest!! her husband died 8 yrs ago and she will not try to live life. she always says "when its just one person". i try to explain (over and over!) that my dad died too 7 yrs ago and my mom has decided she wont spend her last 30 something years here waiting for others. i took her for a pedicure once, i think she might have liked it, she isnt one to really say. like i said, no interests. she wont invite her friends, she will only wait to be invited. maybe i should sign her up for a self help class lol. thanks

I sell Real Pearl Jewelry, I have many in different colors like black and pink to name a few... My stuff is popular with women of all ages even teenagers just because of the different looks I have. None of my stuff is expensive nothing over $40
Another thing I can suggest is getting her a nice sweater. Or a magazine subscription. This year we are doing magazines for the family we are making little cards that say what magazine we have purchased for them and about when it will be arriving. Last year we did that for my BIL he loved it, and everyone else was jealous! So this year thats what we are doing.
Another thing I'm trying this year is getting everyone gifts from Direct Sales or people with Home Based Businesses, this way I can help out people I know who sell the stuff. In this economy I rather the money go to someone who is willing to work for it, instead of a store that is crowded and all it does to sell me stuff is open its doors and expect me to wait in long lines.
home based sales is a good idea, many benefit. im thinking maybe do a home spa basket. lotions, polish, socks. hands too maybe? what woman DOESNT like that? whew! now i have to see if dh likes the idea. he is weird with xmas stuff for his mom lol
In my family we just buy the kids under 18 gifts. Saves money and trouble.
Though we do buy small gifts to the grandparents from the grandkids so really we do buy for everyone I guess ! Which is only my parents , grandma and sister since hubby's family is non exsistant to us.
