UGH i HATE when people decide to act like you're killing your own child because of how you parent. UGH
We went to lunch at SteakNShake. Yummy. DS is only 10 months old, mind you. So we're sitting at a table next to an older couple. They seem nice, and they were all about this lil ham. So the food we ordered came. I ordered him a grilled cheese. To be honest, its the most healthy thing ON the kids menu that he can eat. It was pretty much between a burger, grilled cheese. or mac n cheese. And i ordered applesauce as a side. Well. THAT got me a dirty look. And then i pulled out his sippy cup.
Dear lord, he had chocolate milk. BIG FREAKING DEAL. He's on whole milk and likes it flavored. Can i blame him? NO. I hate milk myself. blech. Makes me gaggggg. I can only drink flavored. And to be honest, we didn't PURPOSELY get him into chocolate milk. We were at the mall and went to starbucks, and when i went to get him an organic milk thing, they only had chocolate. And they wouldn't let me buy a cup full of milk. So i just bought him a chocolate milk. Big Deal. He loved it. He still drinks milk regular, so I just put a tbl of chocolate powder in his cup. Its 8 oz of milk, its really not that bad. And yes, i brush his teeth. AND i've cut him down from 2 cups of juice to 1, and im slowlyyyy diluting that with more water.
But this lady decided to tell me that I wasn't being a "responsible" parent, and that it was a sign of neglect. Something about giving him whatever he wanted so he would leave me alone?! Uh. He was sitting in my lap, but ok. Um. Ok. No milk would have been a sign of neglect.
And then he decided to throw a piece of his sandwich, so i took it away. He cried, and she gave me this horrified look like i was starving him.
UGGGHHHHH... its not like im abusing him!

I bet they don't even have kids. There is nothing wrong with a grilled cheese sandwich, chocolate milk, and applesauce. That's a fine meal, a meal a kid LOVES.
Some people are just rude idiots.
Kairi is 3!
I'll be completely honest, I don't think that stuff is really appropriate for a 10mo old either. BUT, I would not go and say anything to you about it.
Unless you are doing something really horrible to your kid, I try to mind my own business.
I dont know why people insist on jumping in and saying something. gosh people are COMPLETELY ridiculous nowadays i tell ya.

agreed.
just reading about a 10 month old drinking chocolate milk and hardly diluted juice made me cringe.. .

Oh man, I hate milk too. Yuck. Either way, I'd think chocolate milk would be less damaging to the teeth than juice. Anyway, You're the mom and you do what you gotta do. Ignore the nosey old couple. They aren't the ones needing to worry about your choices. It doesn't affect their lives.
The issue we run into, is he doesn't like the jarred foods anymore. i do really good about making him heathy foods, like rice and what not, but when wego out, its a bit difficult, you know? I picked the healthies thing there, and i fed him the applesauce first, so he ate the best thing more, ya know?
Its not like i shove my kid full of crap lol

Everyone has their own opinions. I would have thought the same thing they do. I'm old fashioned in those regards and don't even give whole milk til a year personally. Everyone on this earth is never going to completely agree with how you parent. At the end of the day though you have to be confident in yourself and what your doing.
I would have just told her if she didn't like what I was doing she would be more than welcomed to leave or not look at our table. He wasn't throwing a tantrum and did she expect you to allow him to play with his food? You're right, some people need to mind their own business.
no youre wrong. his juice has always been diluted. about 1/2 and 1/2. Now its more of... 1/4 and 3/4*water*
