I am starting at UCF in January. I have my Associate's degree so I will be working on my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a minor in accounting. But I am curious as to those of you who have this degree. What career field are you in? I am thinking about my major and I want to make sure that this is absolutely what I want to do. The college of business just has so many majors that I am getting confused. I am going to go talk with the academic advisor next week but I want to make sure that the career fields that I am interested in will fall under my degree.

One of my ex-friends graduated from UCF with a Business Admin BA, she works for a small TV station (Christian) doing marketing work.
You'll like UCF, it's a good school. I received both my B.A. degrees from there and plan on starting graduate school there in August.
what was your major?
I am really scared, I know that the classes are supposed to to be harder than the community college level but I have a hard time balancing work, family ,and school YKWIM?
I am excited at the same time though, I really like finance and ecominics so IDK,

I got my B.S. in Bus. Admin. and later my MBA. I worked in banking as an underwriter a.k.a. Real Estate Loan Officer underwriting large construction loans for many years. I'm now a happy SAHM taking a break from the banking world. Good luck in school and study hard. To answer your question, you can go an any direction you want with a bachelor's degree in business.
I majored in History and in Anthropology. I'm applying to do an MA in Public History there.
I don't know about the difference in courses from community college to university level, I started out at USF and transferred to UCF. Of course, your upper level courses are going to have a bit more work than your general education courses did. But, you'll probably end up liking them more because they actually have to do with your major rather than just fulfilling some requirement that you may have no interest in.
Balancing everything is a struggle but I'm sure you'll succeed! You can accomplish whatever you set your mind to! The last semester of my first BA degree (in 2007) I brought my DD to campus with me and traded her off with my SO during our course breaks. Luckily we were able to have schedules where one of us did not have a class when the other did! No worries, you'll be fine, just remember a time management schedule is key!

thanks, I am just really nervous. I was looking at the college of business and I didn't realize how many degree programs there are. Now I am second guessign myself. My plan was to get the BA now and then wait until the baby is in school to work on my MBA but then I was looking at a degree in ecomonics pre-law and then I started thinking about becomign a certified public accountant (MBA - tax lawyer).
the school gave me an apptitude (SP?) test and it said that I am a people person and should do something more like social work or nursing but I really like business and I think that this is something that I can see myself spending 30-40 years doing.

wow so you were both in school at the same time? That haas got to be hard. Right now we are living off DHs income plus what I make part time but DH does framing and construction and with the economy the way it is, he keeps getting laid off. We have munched so much out of our savings. He has a job offer in NewOrleans which is like a 13 hour drive and we won't see each other for at least 2 months and I am scared that without him here to help in the evenings and the weekends, I won't be able to balance everything right. I am taking all of my classes online for January but i will have to start taking them on campus when I start my core classes.

Gosh, I'm sorry he has to take a job so far away, that is rough! The job market around Orlando is horrible right now though, so I can relate with the layoffs. It's ridiculous that he is going to have to be so far away though, we really need a boost in our economy!
As for having to actually go to campus, do you have a babysitter or anyone that could watch your kids? I know it's tough to find a good one. Maybe you could look into daycares near campus? That way you're right around the corner if anything happens. I did a lot of my studying and work at night and in-between classes, sometimes I'd get up super early and do it too. It's like you have to create more time, it is a bit difficult! You'll probably have to go on little sleep but it's worth it in the end! Good luck! Maybe I'll see you around campus. :)

Well, I already registered for January and those four classes will be ASC (at student's convienence) and the academic advisor told me that I will have to go to campus for the exams but my BIL will probably watch the baby at that time. Then when I go back next fall, I will start attending campus for my core classes . I was trying to find about putting him in drop-in daycare of something but IDK.
Alot of the problem that I find with not having enough time is that for some reason I get lazy during the day. When my son is up, I am constantly havign to chase after him so I get distracted when I try to study. I usually wait until DH gets home and then I lock myself in the bedroom until I get my homework done. I get a lot done at work tooo but then there is hardly enough time to get all of the housework done.
