We have a PS3 and it says our Hard drive is corrupted. So of course Sony is like send it to us and $150. They will fix it. But is it possible to buy the hard drive for it and fix it ourselves ??? And if so where do I go and how much am I looking at ??? Thanks
You should be able to get parts. I know w/ the 360 you can. Maybe you could find a gamer-wiz-repair man in your area that has the tools to fix it. Our 360's drive is burnt out and a friend of DH's at work is going to get us a new drive free of charge and everything. He's got all the cleaning kits and stuff. I've seen them online. I'll go look real quick and see if I can't find something similar for the ps3.

my husband is a computer nerd haha and he said that you can get can a stander SATA laptop drive and it will work... usually around $40 or you can get bigger for more money it can hold up to a 5 gb... if you have any question please feel free to message me.....
You can get hard drives from www.newegg.com hope this helps...

No clue. We just bought ours last night. :)

Yes, you can replace your harddrive yourself.
In fact you can get a bigger (more memory) one if you want. If you can fix the other one, or can still log in to it, try to save what you can on a memory stick (or several), and just put it back into the bigger one.
Do some google searching. I know there are websites and gamer groups who know how to do this stuff. Check the forum on playstation.com, too...plenty of PS3 geeks on there.
I did a quick search and this is what I found. You might be able to buy ps3 parts on maybe ebay. The info below is a answer to your type question on yahoo answers.
