It all depends upon whether or not he's even a candidate for the surgery (I assume he will be, but there is always that chance).  My SO went in for his consult/pre op, whatever you call it and within in a couple weeks had the procedure.  I think it also depends upon openings, etc.

My DH went in for the consultation and had the surgery the next week.

My hubby went for the consult and had the surgery a week later. They base it upon age, how many children you have etc. Same as when a woman goes in for a tubal. If she is young and only has one child they won't do it unless it's medically necessary. My hubby was 28 and we have 2 children if that helps any. As long as he fits their criteria and is healthy, it shouldn't take long after the consult. :)

We had DH's consult and procedure in the same day. We scheduled the appointment, went to the DR office and he came in told us what he was going to do, checked DH and snip snip. $50 later he was done and at work the next day. He had it done in office so it was only a specialist copay for us. No scalpel, no cutting the fellas, just poked a hole and tada!!!

My hubby had it done within 2 weeks of his consult.  The doc was trying to convince him not to do it because he was only 29 at the time.  My dh looked at him and said I have 4 girls I'm done.  The doc never questioned it again.  I just had to sign saying I knew he was getting it done.  I took him for the procedure.

Just depends on what I said above about age, how many children you have. Things like that, make sure he's healthy. They will check him thouroughly hun. Thats all that was meant by that.

For my DH it was 2 weeks after his first consult but only because he needed to go for extra pre- surgical testing for clearance because of some med issues. That was 3 weeks ago.
