Exactly how overweight do you have to be...

to get any type of lap band/gastric bypass surgery? Has anyone had it? What are your thoughts on it??

100+ or have a BMI of 35 or more with a risk factor. If you have over a 50 BMI then it has to be gastric bypass.

I've heard some people getting it weighing 80 lbs too much.  how much do you have to lose?

What sorts of things would be considered a risk factor? I don't expect you to know every one of them, lol... just kinda wanted an idea. And I know this sounds completely lazy of me to want surgery to lose weight, but I just feel so discouraged and I work and take care of kids all the time so I don't get as much time for exercise as I need. I do get some in, don't get me wrong, just not as much as I need.

you also have to prove you've tried to lose weight yourself.

i think i heard you have to be at least 100 pds over weight. but i am not sure.

100+ lbs...its not fair...i want it done but cant because im only 35-40lbs over weight..aparently i can lose that on my own....but i dont know how because i have tried everything and NOTHING has worked.....oh well...

my fiance is working on getting it now and for his insurance he has to have a BMI of 40+
