Do I have a right to be a little annoyed at this?

My mom has known for 3 weeks now that I needed her to watch my boys while I go pick my boyfriend up from the airport on Monday. She drives a semi, she usually comes in Sunday evenings but last week they were busy so she didn't come in until Monday evening. When that happened it concerned me that it might happen when I'm supposed to go pick him up, we talked about it and she said it would be fine that she didn't have to take the extra work and she would tell them she needed to be home. Well, now shes saying that they are busy again and she might not be in to watch them. I'm a little annoyed! Its a 2 hour drive for me to pick him up from the airport and then 2 hours back, I really hate taking my kids on long trips because they get car sick and she knows that. I guess I'm just annoyed because she said that she would be here and even in this situation and now shes changing her mind. Am I overreacting?

I think you're overreating a little bit.  It's her job...  and it doesn't sound very predictable, at that.  Is there anyone else who can watch your kids?  A friend, maybe?

Nope and I would totally understand in any other case but sense we had already discussed the possibility I assumed this wouldn't happen.

I think you're overreacting. She's been busy. She's probably tired. Not to sound mean but they are YOUR kids. Either find another sitter or take them w/you.

I don't know.  If I were her, my work would come before doing you a favor.  Sometimes ish happens, you know?

You can be annoyed at anything you want . So sure you have the right to be but what's that going to change? Maybe she still will be able to sit for you or maybe you can ask someone else?

I can see where you would be a little annoyed, but on the other hand...it is 6 weeks till xmas and im sure that you dont know her full financial situation.

Im guessing that she knows that she is putting you out, but however...her job should be top priority.

Is there any other way for your man to get back home ? is there a shuttle that can drive him back into the city/town at least?

Your mom has raised you, now its time for her ..and if she NEEDS to take the hours, then i wouldnt make her feel bad about it.

Hope you get the situation handled.

Well... I guess that means you should bring some sick bags on the road!  I'm sorry....  Hopefully they won't get sick this time!
