Why cant people afford Thanksgiving? EDIT WITH PIC

I've seen and heard people say that (especially people on foodstamps) I mean do they have any idea how cheap it is...

a can of corn .50

mashed potatoes .78

Turkey under 10.00

gravy .75

You might need to buy milk for the mashed potatoes thats about 3.00 (These are Wal-Mart prices)

I just wanted to let those people know its not as expensive as you think.

EDIT: I ADDED SWEET POTATOES TO THE LIST THEY WERE ONLY .78 CENTS ALSO

well im not on FS and it was expensive for us well not anymore because we are going to my moms and them to my MIL. but it can get expensive..

I make a huge meal and after calculating it all up, it only costs me maybe 30 dollars. I make everything from scratch.

Stove top stuffing is gross

i don't think most people think about canned corn or boxed mashed potatoes when they think about thanksgiving..

I'd say average of 5. because i only cook for 3 and have alot of leftovers.

That's maybe thanksgiving for two. Bare bones. Some people can't afford it because they are broke as hell and the meat itself is probably too expensive not the .50 can of corn.
