help with my 1st thanksgiving dinner what to make
hello room well i need some advice im making my first thanksgiving dinner but i dont know what to make i know turkey but i dont know what side dishes so if anybody can help i would really apreciate it
you can go to bettycrocker.com and there are alot of recipes for different sides.I found my green bean cassarole recipe on there.
This is what we usually have:
Turkey/ham/turducktin (I think that's how that's spelled)
Corn
Sweet potato casserole
Green bean casserole
Rolls
Some sort of desert like pumpkin pie, pecan pie/whip cream
Umm...
Drinks
I think that's about it for us....someone usually brings some other weird dish too.
Mashed potatoes/gravy
Green bean casserole, ranch mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potato's with marshmallows on top. I usually go on food network and pick out some things that look good on there to make. This year I am making for dessert paula deans gingerbread trifle which is sooo good and easy.

I am making turkey, greenbean casserole, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, candied yams, and then I am making a homemade pecan pie.

My familys stuffing gets rave reviews, you can give it a try.
The night before:
Set out bread to get that "stale" look (a 1/2 to a whole loaf depending on the # of people)
Chop up apples, celery, onions, and put in seprate containers till the next day
The next day:
Cook 1 lb of pork sasuage, tear up the bread, and mix it in, as well as the chopped up veggies, and fruit from the night before. Add 1 egg, and cook till its kinda mushy. Then either stuff your turkey with it, or eat it as is. =)

I am making:
Turkey
Honey Baked Ham
10 cornish hens
Deviled Eggs
Mashed Potatoes
Salad
Green Bean Casserole
