Lets hear your fav salad recipe?  I am in need of one for Thanksgiving...

I dont cook for thanksgiving so I cant answer. But if I did it would be some kind of box thing. I'm not a great cook.

I don't think I've ever brought a salad, I'm usually asked to provide heartier fare or a dessert.

I like to use mixed greens, golden raisins, red onion, yellow or orange bell pepper, bacon bits, boiled egg, etc.  I usually bring along a few dressings and let them choose.

This is the one I make with my Thankgiving Dinner

  • 7-10 cups fresh baby spinach (washed, dryed and stems removed, or use as much as desired)
  • 5 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • 1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds (candied almonds are good too!)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese (can use more)


  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (or use raspberry wine vinegar or white wine vinegar)
  • 1/4-1/3 cup white sugar
  • 1 pinch paprika
  • 1-2 tablespoon poppy seed


  1. 1
    In a large bowl toss the spinach with the strawberries and toasted almonds.

    In another small bowl whisk together all dressing ingredients, starting with 1/4 cup sugar and adding in more to taste, then pour over the spinach; toss to combine.

    Sprinkle the feta over the top of salad.

    Serve immediately.

Spinach Salad with Citrus poppyseed dressing.

Spinach, bacon,hardboiled eggs, little red onion,cherry tomato,feta,

the dressing I make I use about 1/2 cup olive oil, mixed with the juice of one lemon, and one lime, and some poppyseeds for texture. I also like to throw in a few mint leaves.

I recently tried this mixed greens with grapefruit vinaigrette recipe, and it was delish!  I usually get really bored with salads, so I wanted to try something different!

When I get home and have the family cookbook I made up I will post my grandma's 7 layer salad and my Greek Salad recipes.

I also have a frozen cranberry fluff that is a fruit salad if you are interested.

Ramen noodle salad


bag of coleslaw

chopped green onion

sunflower seeds

Beef ramen (uncooked)


1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup apple cidar viniger

1/3 cup oil

packet of beef ramen seasoning



Throw the coleslaw in the bowl. Add onions. add sunflower seeds, break up the ramen into small pieces. Mix dressing.. toss.. eat!


Sounds weired, but OHHHH so good!

Grandma's 7 layer salad(for me and my sibs, cousins etc it isn't a holiday meal without this salad)

1 head lettuce
1 head cauliflower
1 bunch green onions
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1 jar of bacon pieces (not bits) or 1 lb bacon fried crispy and crumbled
1 c Miracle Whip (not mayo)
1/4 cup sugar

 Tear lettuce into bits and place in bottom of a large bowl.  Break cauliflower into small piece and layer on top of lettuce. Dice the green onions (the green part too) and layer on top of cauliflower.  Layer bacon on top of green onion.  Spread Miracle Whip over top of bacon layer.  sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar over Miracle Whip.  Sprinkle cheese over top.  Cover and refrigerate over night.  Immediately before serving mix all ingrediants together well.

Trisha's Greek Salad

1 bag lettuce
1 bunch green onion, diced
1 jar of kalamati olives, pitted
1 jar pepperocini
1 pkg of feta cheese
1 sliced red/orange/yellow pepper
1 sliced tomato
1 sliced cucumber
1 can diced black olives
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 tbsp sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
black pepper, oregano, rosemary, basil, marjoram, thyme and sea salt for seasoning.

In a large salad bowl mix lettuce, green onions, diced black olives, crumbled feta cheese, cucumber, tomato and red pepper.  Sprinkle with seasoning.  Mix olive oil,  lemon juice and sugar together and pour over salad.  toss salad well.  Lay pepperocini and kalamati olives on top of salad.
