surprisedThat is definitely scary.

ETA: Would that also mean you wouldn't be protected against those particular strains with the H1N1 vaccine?

here's the link.  they aren't sure that the flu was the cause of death, just a factor.  These 4 were all patients in a cancer ward who were very ill to begin with

No, they've discovered a new strain of the swine flu that is resistant to tamiflu. Out of the four cases, three have died. I'm fixing to see if I can find more info...

Although it is scary I still will not be getting the flu or H1N1 shot for me and the kids.

This is what happens. Strains mutate because it is survival of the fittest.  I tried to tell people that this initial strain is not the biggest fear we should have.  As more and more people get it and often have other viruses at the same time, they can mutate and combine to create a stronger virus.  Those are the ones they have to worry about.  I tried explaining this almost a year ago and I got called a quack and basically a fear monger.

Everything we do to stop viruses and bacteria only strengthen them.  At some point, we start losing the fight and they get a step ahead of us and we don't have medicines to fix it.

Oh the things they never tell you.

And yes, that means that the h1n1 vaccine would do nothing against this strain.  It only protects against the other strain.
