We have already bought a play kitchen for Christmas for our daughter who will be 2 in February.  I am looking for stuff to go with it, we already have quite a few dishes (and the kitchen comes with some), we just bought her an apron, we are going to get her a couple of extra appliances, and then some food.  My question is do they not make set of pretend food that are all plastic?  I remember when I was little they had the little plastic cans and stuff like that, and now it seems like every set I see has at least 10-15 things in it that are just cardboard and will be destroyed in less than a week (by the puppy if not by my daughter).  Any ideas?

Melissa and Doug makes a really nice, wooden cutting food set.  My 2 1/2 year old DS LOVES that thing!  It's $20 I do believe and great for coordination.

We found a set of plastic food at Dollar General that works just great. :-)
