Is all human life TRULY equal ?

Before answering please consider the following scenerio  -

If a train continues on its current course, it will kill a  five year old child down the track. However, a signalman is standing by a switch that can redirect the train to another branch. Unfortunately, a lone worker age 80  will be killed if the train is switched to the new track.

If you were the signalman, what would you do?

I personally..

Do not believe that all life is equal.. Or in the "sanctity" of life either.

There are some lives worth more than others.

There are some that truly deserve to die.

If those were my ONLY option I would let the child live. Life IS NOT equal no matter how much we would like to think it should be ! THATS JUST LIFE! lol

The old guy is gonna die soon anyway.  It would be more logical to let the child live.  He still has potential to do something great with his life.  Maybe cure cancer and save millions.

If that were to be the only options I would choose for the child to live, the 80 year old has had his/her life to live the five year old has not.  But if I could i would just unplug it and make the train stop

Or be the next Hitler....

Don't a lot of people believe that "everything happens for a reason" or that if the child died it was "god's plan" for that to happen....

*I don't believe either, just keeping the conversation going...

It's amazing how people don't hold themselves to the standards they set for others.

I think life is equal until the hard decisions have to be made. Then we find out that it really isn't...
