My son is almost 17. All the high school kids are over. They are hanging out listening to music being teens. I have a house rule. Parents must know you are here and if I don't know your parents then I need to call them and make sure they are ok with you being here. All the kids that come over knwo this. Any new kid that comes over abides by the rule with no issue.

So on to the freaking funny part.

6 kids in the media room. I'm on the phone with DH. Door bell rings. I open the door, phone to the ear. Kid at the door points inside. I point the way to the media room. He steps in the door a few steps, looks at me again, I point around the corner -still taking to DH-. Kid goes into the room.

I don't know this kid. He's new over here. No problem. I hang up. I go into the media room. All the kids say hi mom. I say hi. My son introduces the new kid. "mom this is Adam." I say "hi Adam, welcome. Do your parents know where you are, and also I would like to speak with your mom or dad to make sure they are ok with you being here." He just stares at me. "I have a house rule," I explain the rule. He smiles and stares some more.

K now I'm a bit irritated. Don't disrespect my rule or you can go away. It's an easy rule to follow right!

I started to get a bit stern with the kid. "now look, I understand most kids don't have parents that give a crap, but I do. I don't want you hanging out here without your parents knowing. I don't mind you here, that's no problem, but your parents HAVE to know where you are. Sorry I'm so strict about it, but that's my rule and it will be respected. All these other kids follow my rule, so will you."

Kid stares more. I look at my son and say "you know the rule"

My son says "mom, this is Adam, he's deaf. He has no idea what you just said"

OMG I felt like such an ass. LOL. I know sign. So I signed I'm sorry I had no idea. He said it was ok he enjoyed to show. LOL

So there is my embarrasing story to never live down. LOL I can't believe my son let me go on like I did. LOL

I'm sure of it. Even the mom of Adam said the same thing when I told her. She was laughing. She stopped by just now to make sure I'm normal. LOL. I'm about as normal as a crazy woman can be LOL

Kid's probably use to this.  I'd like to know what was going through his mind when you were getting irritated with him.  He was probably thinking you were nuts..LOL
